Nah that element is still needed for Hip Hop, it's basically one of the original types. Guys like Kool G, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, N.W.A. all influenced guys like Jay, Nas, 50, etc. Without that type of style it would just be all sappy. We need guys showing off their skills on the mic.

His catalog is a lot of him remaking current ppl's songs or redoing old school shyt. His "original" singles b generic trap


The problem with mainstream hip-hop is lakk of variance. I enjoy some trap but when it's the only sound really getting pushed...it gets repetitive quk. Hearing the same hihat pattern with same 808s again n again ...same harmonizing

Previously you could hear some gangsta shyt then some party shyt followed by some conscious shyt....it wasn't just one sound

The internet made the sound homogenous....one assembly line sound....not much regional differences that added different flavor

He's not wrong. Most people aren't historians nor heads like us to dig. So it appears everybody copying one or two sounds. I havent been excited by the xxl freshman magazine cover in years.
