Gucci's always been wack to me. I never paid that dude any attention.

You have to know the technical skills of emcee'n early on to know how talented Gucci is.

Gucci was writing circles around dudes, content and depthwise in his region, and in gangsta rap. It was just the sonic clarity was on the low quality side.
Yet, if you really listen to rap historically.
You should have no issue with sitting through it for music made in that time period.
He was the only dude to take the technical proficiency of project pat skillwise.
Then actually expand on it, where it was a welcome addition to the biter rich southern states. where biting triple six is viewed as legal by most southern standards music wise, somehow.

Listen to:

Swing my door
Hold that thought
Stick'em up : real talk, this is like the much better more in depth content and technical upgraded southern mishmash version of I know what girls like, and most of the great robbery songs from nobody move, on. Gucci's third verse on this is one of the most advanced technical skill dope dealer rhymes in southern history.

Money on the floor
Hold that thought
745
trap house : makes check my crack house better

When people started to finally check for him on no pad, no pencil.
Is when he dumb down, but you really can not say it was dumbed down.
As he was really not writing verses and ramped up his clarity and found his consumer niche, technical skill wise.
I prefer his older advanced technical stuff,...
Yet, I still listen to his new stuff.

I appreciate the recommendations. I listened to the first verse of swing my door. There's nothing technically proficient about that verse. Pretty basic really. He's got a mush mouth too.

I listened to the first verse of Hold that thought as well. Same basic shyt. I can't rock with that type of production either.

I'm just not seeing where you see skill in this guy.

Yelling and becoming more offkey song to song is not an improvement.

The problem with rap now is.
nikkas like championing wack nikkas.
All because they do not want the overall skill level of the industry's artist to exceed their own.
It makes the fantasy based idea they could fit in their shoes, more believeable.
It is actually hating.
From the artist to the culture.
Yet, so many wack nikkas rap now.
This gets lost from the combined volume of their wack voices all melded together.
Attempting to outshout the real.

You are showing your age with this post...not every rapper will be the new age CL Smooth or Masta Ace.

I'm a gymrat and Ace Hood as of lately has been a staple for many workouts...:whew:

He is significantly better than his debut days

Ace hood is another nuffin but payola artist, in a sea of overproduced and paid for mediocrity.
He offers nuffin listenable as far as rap, let alone skill is concerned.
If I wanted to hear someone who could not rap and yell at me.
I would have campaigned for that big loud wack nikka on the legion, to have a solo.

Even big was never going to fully blow till he got skill at vocal tonality.
Which is why after his woe is me, first single a side.
Juicy had the getting close to ready delivery and the last more polished recorded record on rtd, unbelievable.
that showed his growth over the duration of the recoding progress.
Followed by the explosion of big poppa and later one more chance.
Even warning he was close to being actualized skillwise.
When he was offkey and a work in progress on dolly me baby and the unreleased material for dreams, and remixes to mjb.
To party and bullshyt, and the I'm the man soundtrack.
He was never going to see a release till he ramped up.

Artist like, busta and LL cool j are the masters of versatile vocal tonality.
Sumfin ace hood will never master.
All because he lacks the technical skill application when writing a rhyme.
Which is why he will always have to yell and be offkey.
The industry likes to blame the internet for why they do not sell.
When the truth is.
They have signed and given payola for l'trimm wack artist at best rappers and expect results like the sales spike era.
when, the rappers do not rap well enough to warrant any actual fan store bought support.

Ace hood is indicative of that exactly.

Ace hood needs to go buy some technically sound rhymes from vado.
Which will probably happen, now.
Them try to figure out how to spit on key.
Even, if ace hood does that he still be a wack rapper.
All because he will have needed a ghostwriter to sound better.
Plus, when a vado verse is not present.
He still will be exposed because he lacks the attention to technical skills to get better.
Since, everything has been gifted to him as a professional.

Duke is an all time superwack personality, period.
Regardless, if he is your guilty pleasure go to artist for the moment in the gym.

Future has regressed music wise on a declining scales in overall quality since dirty sprite.

Vado is significantly improving in the key areas he needed work in.
I am actually glad.
It is good to finally see someone into ramping up his skillset in the pillar of emcee'n.

all voice over talent from drake, weezy and even jeezy can not he credited for improvement.
As they are not creating or writing their own material.
Being, a voice over actor is not a skill.
If it was,..then we need to re-grade Arsenio hall as chunky a and d-tay from hustle and flow.

Also,...gucci has regressed lyrically.
He should not be listed her at all, actually.
Yet, gucci up'd his clarity and intangibles because of his no pad no pencil days.
Backed by his upgrade in resources that include mixing and vocal recording.
I wish Gucci was as potent bar to bar And indepth content wise like in his hold that thought/hard 2 kill days.

He pretty much condensed and downshifted skill syllable wise lyrically.
Once he caught the mainstream drawing eye of people who dissed him all together as an artist in favor of jeezy.
Including, people who were late as hell.

Funny cause I really liked 102. I thought that was his 2nd best behind Recession. Actually no, it's his 3rd best behind 101. It's all subjective though :manny:

I don't know what people see in Reccesion around here, not that its bad but tm102 is damn near a classic to me:blessed:...Jeezy wordplay always been great just that mentally challenged flow that gave his bars character didn't allow people to look at him as anything other than "simple"....but I always say lowkey he ripped 101,u don't just make one of the most quotable albums of all time by mistake if there's nothing lyrically legetimate behind it.

:nah:

The premise of this thread is from wack to dope. Ace Hood is good candidate because despite his unorthodox flow (which is heavily syndicated by Meek Mill) He has made a significant improvement since his debut.

Tonality comes with experience though, he still has time to improve. I don't get why you dismiss him so early ? He doesn't claim to be a great story teller or look to evoke thought from his listener. Why are you studying vocal tonailty in rap music anyway? This is only important in persuasion and gaining compliance in business/relationships.

You can't deny the energy he brings is good for pumping iron.

Now how about you give up that british girl's number breh ? :steviej:
