Okay. My take on Bey is this. I think she's an elite vocalist. She's able to run through scales so quickly and precisely. She has a perfect vibrato to me, not too quick to where it sounds annoying on some Trey Songs shyt but not to slow to where it bores you. Its a nice blend. She can hit many different styles. I've heard her sing in Spanish, I've heard her yodel, I've heard her incorporate opera in her music. Very versatile. Can do any genre, R&B, Pop, Carribean, Opera, Ratchet music, etc.

My knock on her is this. She's very mechanical. No nuance. No soul. I remember her cover of Resentment came across so forced as if she was trying to force the emotion of the songs. Same thing with Sandcastles. That "cry singing" made me cringe as if she practiced it. Think about MJ's She's Out of my Life" his crying at the end of that song was genuine cause that mans felt them words. Quincy Jones said they had to do it over and over again because each time, MJ would get emotional and his voice would crack and he'd start crying. It was genuine and soulful, shyt had me emotional listening to it.
Her trying to bring soul into songs never comes across as genuine. I've never "felt" a Beyonce song. Her songs have never moved me emotionally. I think about Whitneys I Believe in You & Me or Jazmine Sullivans In Love With Another Man. India Aries Ready For Love. H.E.Rs My Song. Arethas Ain't No Way. The ability to convey emotion through the words you're singing is paramount and its not just screaming through a song (Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson). Its a very nuanced art that you have to be born with.

Beyonce cannot do that. She has other wordly ability vocally. Its like the difference between a fundamentally trained singer vs a singer who learned on their own through much trial/error and experiences. The fundamental singer (Bey) can do all the tricks precisely and sounds great doing it whereas the untrained singer can make you feel every word because they penned every lyric through experiences in their life while sounding good. Both are good but I prefer the latter.

I just listened to one of her songs to refresh my memory and imo...

She's bad and not in a good way low-key trash vocals, weak production, memorable singles but terrible albums, lack of guest features although she rocks a crowd but not in the same greatness as Michael Jackson.

Not to mention lack of subject matter so overall she's a 3 and anybody that loves her music low-key has garbage musical tastes and should be ashamed of themselves.

She's a certified BOMB across the board and just in case you idiots don't know what that means I'll tell you... basically A DUD merely be overrated, disappointing, or dull.

{Don't like what I said...
just like I told y'all lame ass Empress... GTFOMF & KIM.}

She doesn’t have the strongest voice ever. But she definitely sing her ass off. Iconic

Wrong. Bey definitely has a strong voice. She can power through songs at will.

She’s an 8, she sang at the oscars once and sounded incredible

She doesn’t really sing songs that show off her range for some reason

The end of Love on Top where she keeps modulating up higher is great showcase of her range

what does this new smiley mean??:deadmanny:Beyoncé took Amerie's style and ran with it.
As you said above, I feel nothing when it comes to Beyoncé's music; she has no soul. Like what she does seems forced, recycled performances and robotic. I'm just not moved when it comes to her music. I feel that she has copied too much off the lesser known artists or styles in order to compensate for her lack of originality. Never was a fan or followed her music- only when she has radio play. Gimmicky although entertaining with her acts and performances, at times. I like soulful music when it comes to R&B, she's a mainstream pop artist with dead eyes.

This elusive soul you speak of

Critics complained Whitney didnt have soul when she first made her debut

Not saying shes Whitney but she has a great voice and I believe she can emote when she chooses too

Fast forward to 6:30

Just because someone grunts and jerks their body with their singing doesn't mean its coming from the soul. No I did not feel that. I understand its an intangible thing ; hard to measure or quantify. I've always felt this way about her. I rated her a 9 so I'm very objective and unbiased. Just my opinion.

Vocally speaking she’s technically a 9.5/10.. her vocal technique is literally one of the best ever in the game. the woman can do practically anything in her voice ..versatile. This ain even on no stan shyt.. she could probably be a voice major and that added with her skill/musicianship and she’s a legit beast. I think her tone can be a bit richer and and she doesn’t have as much soul that I would want from my favorite female singers (Lala Hathaway, Kim Burrell, Lisa Fischer and Anita ..leontyne price too Brandy/Jazz) and this is what is going to hold her back from getting her dues, because that’s what the consumers care about.. her actual skill/ability closer to a 10 then anyone.. Ill go on record and say that Beyonce’s skill and technique is on the level of everyone except, aretha, nippy, ella and Raschelle

Those are elite vocals if you’ll ever hear them and she’s versatile

she can go from an operatic head voice

rnb/soul

funk/grit

I’ve never heard a sour note from her and it’s impressive considering her high energy shows.

Bey is def 9
