Umm because she chose to go back to being a background singer. That doesn’t change her voice. She’s a better singer then the majority of the people being judged so far.
Listen to her voice and tell me she should not be in the top 3?

I'm not disputing her raw talent but based on lack output in terms of album and sales compared to her counterparts there should be a standard or qualifications to this beyond raw talent. If were gonna go down that route let's just go to a random black church on Sunday and call it a day
But she was actually in the music industry unlike
those at church service. Her album charted, her song charted and she won a Grammy.
What’s the basis for deciding who makes the cut for the list?
Is there a certain amount of years, a certain amount of albums, a certain amount of awards that dictate what has to be had before one can be considered as a top female vocalist?
She was in the music industry so she should be given the same consideration.
She’s won the same amount of Grammys as Ariana and more than Aaliyah...

I don't have a strict guideline for what singers get chosen. However, I do take into account the majority of voters on the coli who participate in the threads. I assume that if I haven't heard of a particular singer, or if I'm not familiar with a particular singers work, then the law of averages would say that the majority of voters will fall in the same category.
Lisa Fischer is a name that I've heard maybe a few times in my life. She never hit it big time. Limited exposure. Therefore a thread on her may not go too well cause most haven't heard of her. The same for Patrice Rushen. I will choose a lot of people's favorite artists but only if they have some semblance of exposure so people can make accurate votes. It's only to keep things interesting.
My opinion, I don't think she's all that great. I would rate her a solid 7.

Range is not the only criteria when judging singers. If it were, Minnie Ripperton would be a 10. I agree Lisa has a powerful voice and a very high full voice range but outside of that? She's just a better version of Jennifer Hudson to me. All power, not much else
