When I first started posting on forums this was the shyt that was hot.

Same. One of the forums I first posted on used to Stan the likes of Jedi Mind Tricks and Vakill...I was just scratching my head like “Who??”

And if you ever said anything negative about Nas or Wu Tang you would get “flamed” into oblivion:flabbynsick:

Rightfully so (unless you were clowning U-God)

The indie boom/nerd rap era mostly doesn't hold up today, but don't paint a broad a broad brush, and discount the whole era. Some of it still holds up to this day such as MF Doom, Scaramanga, Godfather Don, Kool Keith, Natural Elements. I even still like some of Necro's old shyt, although that's def not for everyone.

The problem is if you're into current hip hop, it's a bit jarring to hear some of this shyt if you haven't heard it in a while. I remember a couple of months ago a Cage song randomly came on when I had my shyt on shuffle at the gym, and I had to skip it real quick, like ehhhh I can't vibe to this.

Don't forget tho, the extreme backlash the underground/nerd rap era got ushered in the love the NYC mixtape scene got on the innanetz, especially dipset.

I don’t mess with most of that garbage but Sage has some tracks whether you want to admit it or not. And he’s more knowledgeable about hip hop than the vast majority of folks on this site (any site, really). I know that doesn’t mean his music is good, but he’s got skills regardless. No, I’m not Sage Francis.

Listen to how offbeat he is tho, and his voice is just horrible You can really fukk with this in 2020?
