i've always loved both. neither release sounds "dated" to me...they just bring me back to said time periods.

Illmatic was deemed a classic when it came out. Reasonable Doubt became a classic after Jay-z sold 5 million off Hard Knock Life 1. Don't compare, if jay ain't become big time nigs would still view Reasonable Doubt how they viewed it when it dropped just, a solid debut album.

and on top of that they were so many albums that were better musically and lyrically technically speaking imo

Reasonable Doubt sounds fresher (shyt like Politics As Usual sounds like it could have came out today), it's two different eras and two different vibes. For all it's worth Illmatic is still better produced, and is superior lyrically.

Ain't No Nikka is worse than anything on Illmatic by far and it sounds like complete shyt today, it reeks of shiny suit and is ridiculously dated. Brooklyn's Finest is also dated. :manny:

Both are great albums both are in my top 10, both are timeless Illmatic to me will always be number one. I had Reasonable Doubt in the back end of my top 10 probably behind Me Against The World.
I'm fine with this :manny:

Reasonable Doubt is a top 5 of all time album. illmatic may be the worst album in hip hop history. Please stop the comparisons. One gives you lyricism at its zenith, the other gives you shyt like running like cheetahs and switching like a fakket. :comeon:

Both sound timeless to me. The production on Illmatic is superior though. Pretty much every song on Illmatic is a classic hip hop song in and of itself. Can't say the same for RD.
