Yeah, I tweeted yesterday that this will be Capers last year here. It's amazing that, after last year, and all the scrutiny the defense received, that we can play week 1 and look exactly the same. That's on both Capers and McCarthy.
Matter of fact, the last 2 games we've played, we've gotten our ass beat. Both the Giants and Niners basically beat us up, and I blame McCarthy. You look at the 4th quarter yesterday, and how the offense just seemingly "came alive", and wonder what the hell they were doing for 3 quarters. Again, the blame has to be McCarthy.
It was so depressing watching the defense yesterday. The Niners offense are as average as it gets (at best), and we made Alex Smith look like fukking Joe Montana. Same problems as last year: gaping holes in the secondary, little to no pass rush (no fault to Clay, as he was by far our best player on D, and worked his ass off), a soft run defense, and a unique ability in not being able to get off the field on 3rd down. Of course when Jarrett Bush is a starting CB, then something is bound to go bad.
I wish House hadn't gotten hurt, as he looked ok before he did, and we might have to just throw Hayward out there and see what he can do, cause Bush is awful. If he's playing on D at all, it should be at safety. Speaking of safety, it should be no surprise that our defensive woes have been magnified ever since Collins got hurt. CW21 is one of my favorite players ever, I love Clay, Tramon & Raji, but it's clear that Collins was the heart of our D.
Now, there'e miscommunication after miscommunication, that results in blown coverage after blown coverage. It's really to the point that if a QB is dropping back, I expect a completion every single time. It's pathetic.
As far as Thursday, I'd say it's only a must win in the the "fan" sense, as dealing with Bear fans would be pretty bad if they win. Season is long, and there's plenty of time to right the ship, and all these other, so called "playoff teams" in the NFC looked alot worse than we did. With that said, I fully expect us to beat Chicago, probably in a shootout, as their defense isn't any good either.
