He did.

He did.
lol everybody remembers this quote but the video is nowhere on the Internet. I can't even remember what the show was..I remember Outkast on one of those VH1 specials saying
"run up on Hammer if you want to, Hammer'll beat yo ass"
Red has to be one of the most likeable relate able cats in hip-hop history (pause if applicable)
You can Google the whole story, but basically Hammer ran up on Cube and asked him about the diss. Cube stood down and said it wasn't even about him which obviously was a lie. So basically Hammer checked him on it.
Hammer is from EAST Oakland, which was worse back then than it is now. No he wasn't a gangster, but that don't mean he wouldn't give you your issue. Plus he was in the military as well. Hammer wasn't no sucka by a long shot. And he went broke in the most honorable way...putting his town on with jobs and such. Trying to make a difference. He had some bad investments, too, but putting your town on and paying them will drain your pockets way faster than anything. I salute Hammer for that. How many of y'all would do that for your friends?
It's crazy how time changed people's view of hammer. At one point he was a sellout that people laughed at for going broke. Now you realize he was a real nikka from the hood that really employed his whole hood to give them a better life. Rolling wit killers that you grew up with, and some white boys trying to diss you and fukk up the gravy train that's keeping your nikkas outta jail? Off with they heads
Plus hammers first album was lit. Nothing will ever change that. Whole hood fukked with hammer when he first dropped.
He got his nick name because he was a bat boy for the Oakland A's. Somebody said he looked like a young Hank Aaron aka "The Hammer". He'd dance for the team between games.
Don't mean to rain on the parade in here but he was never a G. He put on a lot of people from Oakland and as such they wanted to protect their golden goose.
Fred.
I guess I'm showing my age...
I know he wasn't a superthug, but coming from Oakland I expected him to have a few G's on the payroll.

I knew Hammer was well connected as a kid when I copped his album and seen High St. Bank Boys written on the tape. I had theface like these folks outside of Oakland must not know who they are if they think he's a softy.
