why isn't your argument about that rather than this policy that isn't hurting what you say it is?
You're quoting my opinion. :gucci:

This law doesn't guarantee what it says it does and creates the framework to do more harm for the various reasons I've stated before.

I've also said this law won't affect me at all since 1.)I'm a salaried worker
2.)I have over 45 paid days off a year (didn't use them all. Logistics.)

You seem to be randomly quoting me and arguing against the thread title and not my concerns.:sas2:

But I'm going to let you cook.:mjpls:

your concerns are nil as they don't mean a damn thing.
the employees have to voluntarily agree to these.

your argument seems to ignore that fact.

but yea....I'll stay cooking your weak arguments.

Under the proposed changes, eligible employees -- if their employer decides to offer the option -- would be able to voluntarily choose to receive comp time they can bank and use at a future date in lieu of immediate overtime pay in their paychecks. If they change their minds and want the pay after all, employees would have the option of "cashing out," with the employer required to pay the overtime within 30 days.

:win:

:mjlol: breh do you really think employers are going to do this

I worked at HP for two years and I repeatedly saw them let H1B contractors go because they worked 60 hours and put 60 hours on their time sheet where it was UNDERSTOOD that as an H1B you could get shipped back to whatever little village you were from at the drop of a hat so you worked 60 but you put 30 on your time sheet...

HP Manager: Srinivas we seem to have an issue here. We are not supposed to be paying contractors more than 40 hours but on your time sheet you put 60:gucci:

Srinivas: Yes I worked 60 last week. Remember we had the go live on Friday that lasted until 2:00 am. Then Saturday at 9 we had the netapp 7 mode to cluster mode conversion that lasted until 11 sunday morning :baldhuh:

HP Manager: oh...i see...tell you what Srinivas come with me :yeahok:

Mankesh, Viatri, Khalila, Prinkesh, Suatonaminlohovalaquomeniqlatloaio : :usureusure:

Two days later:

Dinesh : Hi am Dinesh I will be working on the OTS Storage team now great to meet you

Me as a FTE : :mjlol:

Dinesh: do you know how many hours we tend to work on average, I have to pick up the other 9 people I share this house with at 4:30...

Me: Well Dinesh I can't tell you that but I can tell you how many hours you had better put down that you worked :lolbron:

You seem to think companies...specifically enormous companies like HP care about what is illegal and what is not illegal as far as far as workers rights go...they don't...

It's already illegal to have ANY employee to put down less hours than they actually work...which is why lots of IT companies use H1B workers...because as an H1B worker once you lose your job you have a very specific time to either get another job or in some cases enroll in some sort of education program...or you are getting shipped back from where you came from...and you don't want to go back to where you came from...that is why you are in america in the first place...so these companies know they can jerk these people out of their hours like they do because the most likely option is complain and get sent back home...

I mean the president of the country has repeatedly copped to using the same illegal immigrants to do work for him that he wants to build a wall to keep out :mjlol:

This bill is likely to pass in the Senate. A similar bill passed before and Obama vetoed it. They didn't have enough votes to override the veto.

:mjgrin:That is why it's important that the WH said they would sign the bill Into law as is.

You're just not bright. You also haven't made a single counter argument beyond saying, well the Bill says you have to opt in.

Would you like me to change the thread title to, "Republicans are trying to take your hard earned PTO" :troll:

I think most of us are young guy and are used to having subpar insurance or no insurance.... finding out that you may no longer be entitled to overtime which often times you're forced to work out of necessity or by whoever you work for is a much bigger blow.
