Well well well whaddaya know

This just came out like an hour ago

This is exactly what I'm talking about... analytics geeks looking at each component of basketball in a different room instead of putting it all together in a bigger picture

You know.... the way people who know and play basketball do. Analytics have to work in a broad context..... not data points isolated to the level of meaninglessness

5 straight finals and changed the decade
He didn’t change shyt analytics did. :umad:

LeBron made 8 straight Finals, won more MVP’s, more Finals MVP’s, more All-Stars, more All-NBA’s, more All-Defense teams, bested him in almost every statistical category, he actually thoroughly dominated from 2010-2020 unlike Steph who emerged mid decade, LeBron was also the driving force behind ratings and discussion.

If you putting it that way shouldn’t bron get 3/10? Since he only won 3 championships? Give curry the other 3/10 and give the remaining 4 years to nikkas that won mvp. Now you got a group of bytch ass nikkas sharing a little ass pie called a decade. fukk y’all nikkas that hate on curry. I agree with the nikka in op.

I've never seen a coach or exec keep his job despite losing because his team was entertaining.
It’s not a good example. The point is that teams can not duplicate the Warriors. The Warriors have literally two of the 3 or 4 best shooters of All-TIME on their team. Teams are seeing shooting as this skill that every one can just do. They can’t. You can’t shoot like Steph. You can’t shoot like Klay. Them dudes are next level. They same way everybody can’t be Shaq , or Kobe or Mike.
But the thing is, teams are fighting fire with fire. It doesn't have to be the Warriors. If you're matching up evenly in free throws and matching up evenly in 2's but you're getting dwarfed on 3's, you can't win and what we know now is that teams can't counter that too tough with harsher defense because defense is frowned upon in the NBA.

The ONLY reason why analytics is frowned upon by people like yourselves other than the fact that analytics makes y'all feel intellectually stupid is that it isn't aesthetically pleasing to watch when applied by everyone. The counter to that is, "who is entertained by their team losing?"

:russ: I'm still waiting on a good argument against analytics. So many cognitive biases and logical fallacies in that man's post.
If he really wants to keep that energy, he might as well say about the team he covers that the team's offense should be built around Ayton and not Booker.

How many people here would subscribe to that logic?

Man, just had this idea.
What if the NBA made it -1 point for every missed 3 pointer.
I know shyt sounds crazy, but it would introduce a risk/reward element to it.
Only upper echelon shooters would have the green light to fire away even when contested.
It would instantly add value to the midrange game, and guys that were killer from 15 would be as valuable as outside shooters.
All the other suggestions are either impossible or gimicky. You cant make the courts bigger because those court side seats are prime real estate. A 4 point line would be ridiculous.
So many different offenses would develop, because the shot would still be valuable, but you would need an open look from a dead eye out there to really justify early shots.
Teams going on a run would have to slow shyt down and play inside ball too, or else take a risk tying to blow it open from beyond the arc, because that 5 point lead that youre trying to get up to 8 could drop down to 4.
The three pointer would become a much "bigger deal" in the game, guys would shy away from it. Or not. Guys might be fukkin gun slingers out there.
Man, the more I think about this the better it sounds.
Someone talk me back from the edge here, im high af.
You know what's funny? Some teams run practices where they do this shyt, but with long 2's, because THAT is the shot coaches don't want you taking.
