:heh: Rick Owens is a very creative individual in the fashion world who created his own lane and has a lot of really cool clothing. Kanye is a dikkrider who wants these fashion guys to give him a handout without putting any work in.

In his world, Rick Owens is considered one of the best designers on the planet. In his world, Kanye west is considered one of the best artists on the planet.

This would be like if Rick Owens interned for a few months at Def Jam and then screamed on stage at a fashion show begging for Kanye to give him a major label deal. Kanye hasn't done his time from the ground up. Ok, he made a shoe and leveraged a deal with a company he probably barely profits from, but sketching up a shoe that sold on hype is a hundred times different then starting a profitable line like these dudes do.

It's incredibly risky and not profitable in the early goings. I don't think Kanye has the talent to be that big n/h in the fashion world. The only thing he has going for him is hype.

His ambition is admirable, but he's delusional.
I agree with your general point, but I disagree with your example.... Kanye ranting about his lack of acceptance in the fashion world would be like Louie V ranting about his lack of acceptance in the music world.. That would be a better comparison...

I'm not saying Mr Owens has to cop Illmatic on cassette but the perception is that look at these silly rappers rhyming about brands who don't pay attention to them. The perception is bad.
I don't get that perception in his quote at all though.

He doesn't listen to hip hop, doesn't follow it, so being told that Ross or Jay shout out his shyt, doesn't mean much to him, especially since he's one of the biggest designers in the world right now.

He's happy but the idea that he needs to start researching them and know everything about them is crazy.

His wife was hanging out with Rocky a while ago, they probably know he's a rapper but probably fukk with him more based off his love of fashion, that he has a genuine interest in it and has expressed this in way that doesn't involve rants at concerts or shytting on the fashion houses during interviews.

Who is Louie V? Louis Vuitton? There is know Louie V b, that's just the name of the label. :heh:

The thing is Kanye doesn't just want acceptance, he wants to be given a handout by the companies. He wants more than acceptance, he wants a brand, he wants to be a designer.

I'm saying he needs to bow to jay or give a piece of the company :russ: He gave a pretty respectable answer to him not following hip hop. I know it was probably the media trying to put a spin on things to make us look silly for rapping brands that don't follow us. But some of these rapper hold high regard to these brands. And for them not to even show interest into what hip hop is about is a slap in the face to like a A$AP Rocky who brags about owning all this designer stuff. I'm looking at these nikkas like :stopitslime: Yes you got all this expensive shyt, but these brand don't even listen to you. Silly ass rappers :lolbron:

That pic is horrid. But this isn't the first time this happened. That's the problem with us as a whole. We go fishing for approval from these CACs that don't understand us. He is happy as hell to get more money and be seen in another market. And like he said, he doesn't give them shyt for it, all that promo for free. We rap about these stupid ugly, overpriced overrated brands who look at us as curiosity and a fun experiment rather than a serious genre of music. Jay-z with all his money and "influence" and these CACs don't even respect him. We should be using that money to make our own Gucci, fendi, Prada or what have you. Instead, we give these CACs free promo and more money and they can't even say thanks. Disgusting

European Jay gets his face mushed in by another entrepreneur who doesn't even know who he is. :laff:

Now watch this sand dune sandwich eating camel Shawna Carter Knowles cry racism like he did when Cristal hurt his feelings worse than his face hurts a mirror. :laff:

when I say Louie V I mean the corporation or the brand, Or anyone who was apart of that brands growth, whether it be Marc Jacobs or whomever... My entire point was that the comparison wasn't accurate, because I don't think Rick Owens is to he fashion world, what Kanye is to hip hop... But I definitely get what you're saying about handouts and whatnot.... I just feel like Kanye is facing a challenge he doesn't know how to deal with yet, so he is ranting and lashing out...

I'm not sure why it's a slap in a face though.

Ye, Jay, Ross and Rocky are fans of his designs. Why does that have to be reciprocated? Why does he have to have an interest in something he's not interested in?

At first I was a bit mad about it because it makes us look silly. I always refer to us because I'm a fan of hip hop and I make beats so that's why I say us. It's not about black or white or race. But anyways my point being is that it looks silly that some of the bigger names in hip hop brag and dedicate songs to these brands who don't even give us the same respect and admiration that we do for them. I'm not saying Mr Owens has to cop Illmatic on cassette but the perception is that look at these silly rappers rhyming about brands who don't pay attention to them. The perception is bad.

:wtf;

Magnum P.I. had a Ferrari.

Armani suits have been talked about in movie and tv for as long as I remember by white folks.

Rolex.

Prada shoes.

If it wasn't for tv, movies, or rappers, I would know absolutely nothing about luxury items.

Everyone does it when it comes to art and entertainment, why do rappers get taken to task?

Its 2013, its getting pathetic that these journalist have no problem insulting our intelligence. Is it because they think less of us?

lol @ any man wearing any of these designers clothing...unless you're making six figures, you're a fukking fakkit trying to hide your insecurities in these brand name clothing. Women using their tax returns to shop at Barney's? :what:. How about you save that cash to try to invest it in something. People driving around in Escalades and wearing $200 Jordans but receive assistance from the state and still live in the inner city. Fiscal irresponsibility at its finest

As for rappers, they don't know the difference in clothing amongst Tom Ford, Gucci, or this fakkit. They just look at the price tag and buy it because it shows some sort of superiority in their mind. The fact that Kanye wants people to be in an uproar for his selfish needs baffles me. The fact he's got posters on the coli as his internet warriors trying to scream racism is even more baffling. Just because rappers wanna "stunt" in what their listeners don't have, doesn't mean these designers are responsible for somehow financially reimbursing them. This guy handled it appropriately. What more do you want from him? Just a bunch of crybabies wanting something for free. No one wants to work anymore. No one wants to put in the time. This generation is just a bunch of entitled self conscious cry babies.

Then I spent 400 bucks on this
Just to be like nikka you ain't up on this!

No homo but I respect you. It's been a fun debate to be honest.

It's perception. I mean look at the reactions in the thread. Rick Owens has the right not to listen to hip hop at all and be happy. But the perception is that these rap guys are rhyming about a brand who doesn't even listen to them. It makes all that bragging silly. I think the post of above yours makes fun of Jayz for rhyming about it. It's really not even about Rick Owens per say, it's just about hip hop one sided love affair with high fashion. I mean I mention kanye going on a nation wide rant about Nike, Louis Vuitton, and other brands not giving him respect. Cristal saying that don't want us drinking their shyt. It's just another chapter in this sick one sided love affair
