Ross occupies a strange space

His music isn't dumb enough for the youth nor does it really appeal to the youth at all..

He's not great enough an MC/socially conscious to please the other crowd.. He probably could go this route if he tried though

He's kinda stuck himself behind this boss image but it doesn't come across the way that jay did it so it's not as cool. He come across like a character more than any rapper I've seen.

I think fans love the artist themselves even more than the music but he doesn't come across as genuine so his core fan base isn't as big as it should be

i'm looking forward to it like i have with every Ross album post Trilla (the album that made me a fan)

i think he realizes himself he's not on a certain tier anymore.
no forced singles this time around. stuck to his lane and hopefully he delivers another good album in a strong discography.

Would love to see tracks like this -

Y'all weird now he doesn't have an ear for beats? That all I read for years bout him. Granted I bought "mastermind" & "black dollar" since he became a better rapper. But damn this revisionist shyt & talkin bout sales is strange. Seein how some of the ppl I see ya stan move no units. Not even a stan & became a fan a few yrs ago.

@seveninthechamber the new @PhonZhi tellin "harsh realities" :wow:

Edit: he "fell off" releasing hood billionaire

this has been going on for 30 years, it's funny y'all single out Ross though.

This nikka was a cop and took somebody else's life...and started rapping...

Like this nikka said he knows the real Noriega...after that...I was done with him...can't believe people are Hip Hop fans and listen to Rick Ross...

Hood Bllionaire. As one of the more hardcore Ross fans even I thought Hood Billionaire was rushed and unpolished.

If he took more time between records he would have had a few classics by now. If he took the best songs on Rich Forever and combined it with the best songs of God Forgives, I Don't, he has one of the best rap records in years.

After 4 albums, gotta find a gimmick.

Snoop understood this. Once your established, u build off your legacy by working with people exclusively.

Snoop started with a No Limit BBTP produced album.

Went back did The Last Meal DR DRE produced album.

Pharrell produced album.

Dam Funk produced album.

Adrian Younge produced album.

Etc.

That's how you do it.

You can keep the same subject matter but u have to find different soundscapes when u older.

Smart move would have been a Madlib produced album. A Pete Rock produced album etc. change that soundscape and people will listen just for the combination.

You have to keep people saying, what is THAT gonna sound like...

Ross doesn't want to vary his production. So he's drying up.

Need that Pharrell joint, Swizz joint, gotta keep people entranced.
Nobody today wants to do a whole album anchored by even 3 producers let alone 1.
