Here's what I think happened....

I think Jaz-O sold Jay out for not signing him as a Roc-a-Fella. Fast forward to after The Takeova is released. Nas knows if he doesn't come back with a GOAT diss record, his career is over, so he gets at Jaz for inside info on Jay. Nas takes that info and writes Ether. Columbia makes Nas edit the record & then it's released.

As it's been said, we will probably never know if the record was edited and the only people that can confirm it probably won't do that. I read the alleged edited version... Jay-Z would have been done after BP2.... Original Ether>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Takeover..... Even without the gay references.
