Everybody gets at me but I really wouldn’t mind hearing someone else produce more on the next Roc album. Some of the production here is fire. I love Mt Marci, Crockett Tubbs, Downtown 81, Whorus, and others. Some experimental stuff has mixed results. I think Trenchcoat and Covid Cough are cool. Wicked Days is just too weird even for me.
Arch druids is what he needs.

Wicked days is like some schizophrenic devil worshipping addicts in an abandoned building shyt . No thanks.

I get the vibe, but the music gonna need to sound a little more pleasant to make that a repeat.

some.of these redundant loops are anlil annoying.

there's about ten songs I'm taking to the roc mix

pimps don't wear rabbit
covid cough
downtown 81
Mt Marci
crocket tubbs
garbage pale kids
trench coat wars
baby powder
steel vagina
butterfly effect

steel vagina
downtown 81
butteryfly effect
Mt Marci

What I will say is Behold A Dark Horse is the last album in the last few u can just throw on for anybody who don’t even have to be a Roc fan. Basically easily accessible to the average hip hop fan.

They always supply him with heat. But 10 songs is a good average for a 15 track album. Not every album gonna be a classic but I think this is genuinely dope. I gotta sit with it more tho.

U don’t think so? Every person I let hear that album thinks it’s fire and became a fan of dude.
I dont know. Maybe because I was up on Marc from UN days I feel like he has regressed since Reloaded - definitely since Pimpire Strikes Back - I have never been able to sit through Behold the Dark Horse. May need to revisit but his style is not my cup of tea these days.

Agree, I feel like a lot of albums that came after more or less do the same, but not as good as Reloaded. Especially in the production and mixing department. His vocals haven't been the same since Pimpire. I still enjoy it tho, gonna wait for this one on Spotify.

This thread deserves a sticky.

  1. I'm gonna speak out both sides of my mouth here. :hubie:Real talk, everyone is talking about Hit-Boy and Alchemist for producers of 2020, and Harry Fraud to a lesser extent for the half dozen fire projects he's produced. But Roc deserves some serious accolades for Reasonable Drought, Mt. Marci, Continua a Sparare, & Pimpstrumentals. That's 4 bodies of dope production in 2020.
  2. At the same time, I like the production on Reasonable Drought more than Mt Marci, and everyone is gonna hit me with the :camby: but I'd love to hear the next Roc album be produced by someone else. I'm getting (just a little bit :whoa:) fatigued by Roc rhyming over super duper experimental production. I'm not even asking for conventional beats. I mean Wicked Days is one of the weirdest instrumentals I've ever heard in my life. :dwillhuh: I'd love to hear Roc even over some Traplib (Half Man Half Cocaine) or Trapchemist (Slow Roll, 5 to 50, Method to Madness) type beats. Just something a little different for him at this point, since he's mastered rhyming over experimental left-field drumless beats. Also, Jake One marked Downtown '81. I'd love to hear more of Jake One producing for Roc.
