From what I've heard, they were going to go through with Batista/Orton even through all of that (which seems too ludicrous to be true, I know). The fact that Punk left was what forced everything to be changed (and when I say everything, I mean plans up to SummerSlam). You could be right (and I hope you are, because it would tell me that the brain trust in Stamford has a shred of sanity left. From what I heard, it didn't change anything though), but I wouldn't be shocked if Vince was going to go through with it up until he logistically couldn't do so anymore.

I mean, this is the guy that wanted Floyd Mayweather to play babyface in 2008 and had to be sat down by Shane and forced to watch an episode of one of his 24/7 specials to get how stupid that idea was.

This is the guy that wants to run Rock/Brock at WM 31 even though they desperately need to use Brock to build a new top babyface (Hunter's the one that's really pushing for Reigns to take it).

Going through with Batista/Orton would be right in line with Vince's methods. I know for a fact though that the crowd response didn't make him change anything, and that Punk's retirement had FAR more to do with changing plans than the fans' discontent did.

They weren't going through with anything...The night after the Rumble. They sent Bryan out there immediately to open the show and Batista wasn't even brought up until like the third hour as if they were hiding him. Punk was destined for a Cripple H anti authority little match. .crowd was gonna continue to harass and take over shows until Bryan was in his proper spot. WM XXX ending with Daniel Bryan chants and This match sucks chants? Nah..they had to tuck that tail like it was 1999 all over again.


Lol@know for a fact...what we know for a fact is that fans chanted WE WANT DIVAS at Cena and Blandy...and the powers that be got their minds right real fukking quick immediately afterwards.
