Their first 3 albums have individual songs I like but the production on those albums doesn't make me want to revisit them often.

That's the kind of beat I would produce for them given a chance, but they mostly used a lot of electro/industrial sounds on the first 3 albums.

This album is a step up in the production style. They've both always been very talented rappers, but I understand people not liking El-P's lyrical style, it's always been esoteric and he's not interested in watering down his style.

Anyway this is the first album of theirs that I think is a good listen start to finish.

This is actually a funny line here cause I’ve heard these RTJ albums referred to as “white people revolutionary music” :laff:

:deadmanny:precisely.

Its like this, I like EL-P and Killer is straight, but RTJ ran it's course with the first two albums (mainly the first one). The problem with RTJ as a whole is that they are predicable as hell. Every song has to do with the following:

  • Killer Mike threatening to punch somebody
  • El-P gibberish
  • Killer Mike saying fukk the police (:sas1:)
  • El-P gibberish
  • A guest appearance washing the fukk out of both rappers
  • El-P gibberish
It gets tiresome and on the real, the group is safe AF compared to other rap groups that actually about what they say instead of revolutionary hustling :camby:

I like songs here n there but Mike's raps be predictable on that ooey gooey punch you, face go kablooey. El-p has a decent verse once in a blue moon....also not into the sleepy bloopy quasi EDM aspect.

RTJ is gym music for cac dudes and the token act at rock festivals like Pitchfork

Nah. Finding out that “kill your masters” was a metaphor, and he had no real interest in change. Only elevating his socioeconomic standing. The same guy who made “That’s Life” chastising the wealthy for forgetting about those they come from is now a bootlicker. Kinda takes the air out of the music for me.

wait you want a black man named killer mike to advocate for the murder of eldery white men?

hes an artist breh :snoop:

This duo peaked at R.A.P Music and has been making nothing but overblown festival music since.

The release date of this project alone sets this in stone :dead:

a bootlicker = sellout. Stop being pedantic.

You sound like a guy that's unfamiliar with Mike's music, where he speaks about police brutality and empowering the black community quite extensively. But no, let's distill his entire body of work and activism to being a sellout because your LARPin anarchist ass is upset at his call for calmness.

Your arguments are poor too. You can't invoke shyt like living wage/got insurance/"rapper owns it" when there are business impacted that do NOT fall under such categories. On the flip side, if you or your pops owns a business that got burned to the ground, and your insurance don't got you covered....are you gonna sing the same tune? I doubt it. Your attempts to bring up post count/join date is irrelevant. I'm not judging you by how much time you spend on thecoli, but by how much shyt you're willing to talk in the comfort of your home. You sure do sound like a frontlinin activist no doubt :francis:

thank you for the logic

its possible the OP is a crackbaby
