I don't disagree. I also don't think OKC disagrees. However, it's financially irresponsible to continue to pay the luxury tax for a team to be eliminated in the first round.


It's not as if they're gonna full out tank. I'm sure they'll try to compete. When the Clippers traded CP3 everyone thought they were gonna tank. They competed. When the Clippers traded Tobias Harris everyone assumed the tank was coming. They competed. OKC is now gonna trade Westbrook. They'll still try to compete. Maybe they wind up the 9th or 10th seed (I look at them and the Spurs the same way), maybe 11th seed, but they'll still try. If you can draft well and maneuver this won't be a long long wait for them.
