I mean Lamar and Aaron Rodgers got drafted in that range too. For an even deeper cut... So did Dan Marino. Hell Russ himself is a 3rd round guy. You can still hit on QB's in that range, math just isn't as good for it happening.

But Im in full agreement with you. Why bring back Payton if you were ultimately going to just tear it all down, They could've done this with a rookie coach and not set all that money on fire bringing payton's ass out of retirement.

Well not only is it far fetched but also Rodgers and Wilson were drafted as luxuries. Rodgers fell in their lap and sat, and Seahawks had just paid Flynn. They probably drafted ‘smarter’ bc they didn’t ’need n them. Broncos desperate they bout to take a QB with a 2ns round grade at 14 :heh:

Bc 1- they can’t spend more picks to move up, 2- the qb board doesn’t even work like that there’s rarely anyone just sitting there. If he is, it’s for a reason. 3- They have a blinking red light ‘we need a QB’ so teams are likely to jump them if a guy is worth it. It’s just a comically bad, pretty unprecedented situation.

Big facts and yeah they’re gonna fukk themselves here and be awful for a hot min unless they nail all pros on their draft picks moving forward

Hes 18th passing yards and 21st in qbr, he's literally a game manager making 40+mm a year. The entire Denver offense is to throw the check or screen because russ inability to read defenses presnap. It's first take culture looking at his numbers without watching the games. None of his wrs will reach 800 yards because of his inability to target the middle of the field

Attack numbers while bringing up numbers :heh:

Well which is it, him as a QB or his money? The money is a sunk cost that’s irrelevant. If it’s his play, make it work. Now more than ever QBs are showing they can be schemed up. Goff, Geno, Minshew. ATP im pretty sure I could throw for an efficient 250 in Shane Steichen offense. So ok, find a Shane Steichen.

That’s the real solution if they didn’t commit to a bytch like Payton. NOT to throw away an above average QB looking for a great one —with the 17th pick in the draft.

It’s arrogant. Bc that does not happen. QBs drafted in the teens have a terrible track record. Bc you’re banking on half a dozen teams to just be stupid and you’re smarter. That type of arrogance could only come from an out of touch dinosaur like Payton

The money is relevant to the topic of discussion considering that's the reason why they're benching him in the first place to prevent it from being fully guaranteed moving forward.

Posters can't on one hand shyt on teams for overpaying for QBs, then complain that they try to rid themselves out of it.

TYRONE GA!
Welp.

Payton has his scapegoat.

They'll probably try to find a trade suitor in the offseason, but I don't see anyone eating that cap money. Maybe the Raiders? Vikes?

Damn.

I refuse to believe that brehs that watch football weekly have watched Russ and think that he's performed more than slightly mediocre since becoming a Bronco.

Brehs are hanging on to 2016-2018 Russ to dear life. He ain't that guy anymore.
You already know the answer to this. Nobody that actually watched the Broncos, would see this as a surprise. Russ has been terrible. Payton was just tryna work wit what he had

Facts. The money is everything.

The money he's going to want is going to price him out of most teams that NEED a QB.

No young rebuilding team is going to pay a 35 year old QB 40-45 mil a year

So that leaves you with teams who think they are a mid QB away from winning. How many teams is this honestly? Raiders, Vikings, Steelers, Falcons, Bucs...I cant think of any more. This list is small.

If he's cut after June 1, usually teams have blown their cap space at that point. Its going to be tricky
