Breh the Choctaw has African Slaves...they was on them plantations....if you not from Mississippi or a state near Mississippi, I think you need to actually talk to a person from that region area.

Coogler fukked up big time and y'all are in denial.

He mixed Vampires in the Delta with Blues....that just shyts on Blues in so many ways which is why I want folk not from the South to stop making movies about the South.

nikka I’m literally from the area that was showcased in the movie :deadrose:

Worked at the Asian grocery store in Shelby, went to nursing school at the community college in clarksdale.

Grew up off the river looking at Arkansas in rosedale where chows grocery store is in the documentary on Asians from Twitter in this same thread.

Chill out lmfao cause you’re bugging right now

Wow

Bro the movie literally told you there were no Indians in the area. The grand master nephew said “there are none!”

They wouldn’t have been there cause it’s literally all old slave plantations owned by white men and farmland in that area.

Like I said earlier the tweet makes sense that the natives got back on track moving out of state to be never seen again in that area.

Naw.....I been said numerous times Ryan Coogler doesn't research shyt for his movies, he only knows shyt about California, hence why he had to have Cali shyt in that music through generations scenes.

If he put that much fukking love he has of Cali in his actual work outside of Cali....he could be a decent writer.

Breh....that means Coogler can't write.

It's 1932...Choctaw was def in Mississippi breh.

Why the fukk did Coogler write that dumb shyt?

That's like putting Cajuns in New Orleans in a film set in NEW ORLEANS. Cajuns didn't occupy NO like dat to make it prevalent for their addition. But you have to know the history of the setting you are using when writing a fukking film.

Ryan did a good job with the showcasing to me. I do wish he dove more into the lore but every plantation in that area is named after some old white dude. They would’ve pushed the natives out of the area

Which makes sense as to why they ran the vampire to that area and left to never be seen again. They were in the state, some in passing, but not living in the delta area at the time

It all makes sense

Great Movie
I've been reading through this thread all morning,
it's pretty disgusting how there's a poster in here going in on this film and the director like this. like everyone sees this a nice jewel to add to black film history and it's just getting under his skin like the damn vamps themselves lmao.
especially from someone who is a black creative. It's coming off as envy at this point
and no, i'm not afraid to @ you @King_Kamala61 :francis:

That's not what Mississippi history says. 1930s Choctaw pop in Miss. was 1,500
There were still Choctaw in the state, but the tribes still could've been driven from the area where the film takes place.
Both things can be true at the same time.
For example, my family lives in Lawrence Co., MS, and I never saw any Asians in the area until I was in my early 30's. My people would've said there were no Asians around, either.
However, I'm sure there were plenty Asians in the state, especially near the Gulf.
