Finally watched this. Wanted to let the hype die down in my head blah blah. I thought it would be pretty good but figured it would also be a lot of nikkas hyping shyt up like we usually do and bullshyt boosted reviews.
Probably one of my favorite horror movies in a while. There were a fukk ton of strong acting jobs in this, can’t even single a lot out because it was most of the goddamn cast. Intertwining the story and just everything with the music and keeping the pace of the film along at a fukking breakneck pace for most of the movie made it feel like an hour and a half instead of blew long it was. The more I think about it and particular scenes the more I really enjoyed it. I’ll be mad if whoever did sound editing and all that doesn’t get an Oscar. And the shots done with the vamps in the field singing might be one of my favorite horror movie scenes of all time.
And the tiniest bit of me did a little eye roll in my head during Sammie’s performance scene but it was so fukking well done and left in a way that makes sense thematically that I am not even mad. Loved it
I agree with literally everything you said. And I’ve also had a personal grudge against MBJ because Without Remorse is one of my favorite books of all time and that movie is not Without Remorse. But fukk man I ain’t even mad anymoreSame and this is from someone who perviously thought coogler/jordan were overhyped af because ppl just wanted a black Scorcese/Deniro. This movie was amazing. Truly one of the best I’ve seen in years. The cinematography, music, characters performances, all top notch. Gotta give Jordan and Coogler their flowers. Also the kid who played Sami. What a debut role. Only regret was not seeing this in imax
I still think Creed is one of the best movies of the last ten years. And Black Panther while not perfect has so much infused in it thats its great as well (think of it less as a MCU film/more black fantasy sci fi)Same and this is from someone who perviously thought coogler/jordan were overhyped af because ppl just wanted a black Scorcese/Deniro. So they shouldve gotten another actor to play the brother, even though MBJ killed both roles, to make another setpiece? We dont even know if MBJ charged more/double for playing both roles. Brawl was fine to me, what else did you want to see? We got two actiony/set pieces with the vamp brawl and shootout at the end.Now that OBAA has stolen Sinners thunder its time to ask the tough questions. Its all over X
Love the movie. Said elsewhere they should have leveled up the vampire brawl.
However, as much as he killed it as both characters they should have got another actor opposite MBJ. I know we all said Jonathan Majors. He would have been great obviously, but unfortunately might have tanked the box office. Even someone like Aldis Hodge might have been enough. Wouldnt have cost them major bank and could used the twin tech money on generating another setpiece.
The brawl wasnt that good after a rewatch. So they shouldve gotten another actor to play the brother, even though MBJ killed both roles, to make another setpiece?
