So they shouldve gotten another actor to play the brother, even though MBJ killed both roles, to make another setpiece? We dont even know if MBJ charged more/double for playing both roles. Brawl was fine to me, what else did you want to see? We got two actiony/set pieces with the vamp brawl and shootout at the end.

I hear you but I think the brawl is only fine because they did a good job making us care about the characters. Its not as effective as if you just wanted to watch the scene itself to see how well orchestrated an action set piece is.

shyt should have been Train to Busan levels of "oh they fukked" and impending doom type stuff. Again what was there wasnt bad, but just wish it was to the level as the rest of the movie. Also there are logic/writing that just isnt as strong as the rest of the movie. If Sammie is the endgame and Remmick controls the vampires, who gives a fukk about Delta Slim sacrificing himself.

Yea, Van and Midnight Boys said once OBAA came out, PTA was clearing all the awards. I already prepared myself for settling on Sinners getting shyt like best costume.

Oh this this movie will win everything. I mean, you guys, it it it's like when uh great black art is a struggle, great white art is a coronation. The way that it goes, great black art is uh kicking down doors and telling people why the movie is important. Great white stuff is it comes out, right away it's the best thing we ever saw. Then over the next couple weeks maybe we can have some real conversations. It's already done it's over, OBAA, best picture, best actor, Penn getting best supporting, it's over.

Art is subjective and people find nitpicks about anything. However, that was one thing were there was a consensus its not as good as the rest. So it'll be held against it.

Maybe Spike should have won years ago, but its looking like no black director wins best director at the oscars again. And the way they talking you just hope he gets nominated at this point.

Sinners might still be the movie to remember from this year (years from now)

I was only talking in terms of award status. Plenty of films that arent perfect in its execution but are still classics and endlessly rewatchable

What did you think of OBAA?

I think for some OBAA having high praise that people are just glad the movie exists. Like with OBAA it might have critique of problematic character/mixed message. However, its the overall craft that people are appreciating.

I think Sinners could beat if it was as highly regarded in terms of things like metacritic, etc etc Because Sinners would have the bonus of being a box office hit.

This was a cool movie but the world gassed tf outta it, which I assumed. Ain’t “best movie I ever seen” material and it lowkey sucks everybody got slaughtered but I guess it does period piece well

That’s the most apt description of it. It was a dope watch.

It’s cultural importance is the best thing about it, but beyond that I don’t think I’d even put it in my top-10 films of the year.
