Glad he's reconnecting. I travel a bit but I also laugh when people talk about "finding themselves" halfway across the world when they have never looked in the next town over. I also don't think this is something ADOS exclusively face (though it impacts us more) I've seen other Americans sorta dismiss their own culture

Born and raised in the lowcountry, I didn't feel the "need" to do this as I was already here in the area where most slaves were brought through and home of the biggest slave port/market (Charleston SC). The history, tales, and shyt taught to me were already cemented. I can get Coogler not getting that.

But I will also say that after visiting Africa again, it just feels different being there and being around people that look like you from the home of slave ancestors.
