If the W had those classic beats like he did on forever and 36 changes with this mixed in it would have carried the Wu over.

The W is an amazingly produced album.

I was coming into this thread thinking maaybe something like Buck 50 or The Grain

But nah bruh, Stroke of Death SLAPS hard. Maybe you need to blast it in a whip with decent speakers.

Who'd be against Buck 50 or The Grain though? Stroke, though I dig, I can understand why it might not be some people's flavor, but the other 2 are classic hip-hop breaks.

Did RZA make this beat though?

He executive produced the album and polished up some of the original beats, but I'm not sure how many beats he made from scratch

This beat is hot though, sounds like who ever did it was dusted

the unknown rappers on the album came off on their little verses too
"we don't drink wine,
If you don't bring some MFin cognac I'll kill you!"

not a single wack beat on the entire album

I drive friends crazy with that line. :heh:

Picking a track off of SUPREME CLIENTELE to illustrate a terrible beat is not the way to go.

It is if you have your own mind and think for yourself. The beats is trash to me. But the amount of justification for this beat not being trash is :mjlol: I mean if you think it’s dope I can respect that. But when nikkas start talking about, oh you just gotta play it like 70 times and get used to it, or I hated it at first but now I love it, or it’s the lyrics that make the beat fire, or you gotta blast it in your whip, or I couldn’t rap on the beat, but I’m a fan cause these others nikkas could.... Man stop. The beat ain’t good

I'm not a fan of that album as a whole

Naw I’m saying if you like the beat you like the beat. But if you read the thread, several people have stated they like the beat, but with all kind of qualifiers. Some people even said they used to hate the beat but it grew on them. RZAs legendary status makes people want to like the beat and it’s almost like its blasphemy if you call a RZA beat trash. You have to see the uniqueness, or the abstractness and appreciate it, even if it’s not that pleasing to the ears. And after a while, the shyt will grow on you and you will like the beat. Or the beat is trash

Some members took a step back lyrically, but instrumentally the album is great. Love how RZA themed the album by focusing on the drums.
I feel like they all phoned in their verses, no cohesion at all
