Get some experience before you decide to gamble with black dollars.

We're not the playpen for amateurs to roll around in.

And you've just revealed how little you think of black people.

I don't even understand what idiot would take issue with anything said in that post.

This bullshyt didn't even dignify a response.

Man shut the fukk up

All your babbling is irrelevant

If the word scam is too strong for some of you can you at least admit they're hustling people?

What does 13k get you?

Yall can't be this green:comeon:

Nothing they provide in that package has anything to do with business. It's just paying to sit closer to famous people. Of course they're not going to outright scam people but they're basically charging to put a bunch of people in close proximity to "network." They're using celebrities and emphasizing entertainment to overcharge people and fatten their own pockets.
You’re losing money learning how to get money :mjlol:

This. Most people don't want to hear it but building wealth is a long game and realistically boring if you don't find economics and financing interesting.
That's why it's so easy to get over on that segment they're catering to. It's the people that want the easy way out while doing the least amount of work. They're paying people who talk on circles to eventually say the exact same stuff you can learn in a finance/investing book. They just have celebs on to validate what they're pushing since people idolize celebrities. It's the same play just sell people the idea that you can make them rich and they pay and make you rich.

When I saw the lineup I knew it wasn’t for me. It wasn't a lineup if well known/accomplished black financial experts. It was mostly just a lineup of successful black people. Being successful doesn’t make you a finance/investment expert. In most cases you are just very knowledgeable in the specific industry you work in, very talented/skilled in some way that generates money, or you hired people who know how to (help) make your money grow.

Nothing about Steve Harvey or Diddy makes me think they’re going to give me any groundbreaking financial advice. Have they ever even done anything like this outside of the overpriced “festival”? I’d be more inclined to listen to someone like Anthony O’Neal than Diddy or Steve Harvey about finances.

Agree
I don't know what to make of the event being discussed, but I know that Black Enterprise was in business for years before they began hosting conferences and networking events. I know of Earn Your Leisure from seeing/hearing their podcasts on this forum. They should have done smaller events and worked out the issues/problems before staging something of this size. But I guess they are striking while the iron is hot, and they have a popular podcast

You're under the assumption that they actually wanted to help people. The goal was for them to make a come up. If they were serious they wouldn't have marketed the event as a party with open bars, music, and celebs.

People should have caught on to what they were doing. It was obvious once you looked at the pricing.

Their podcast audience, and the audience for this event are the same people.
Had they pulled off the event as detailed in the promotional materials (no technical or logistic problems) the audience would have generally been satisfied and gotten what they paid for.

This event seemed to have billed as the "Dinner with Jay Z " thread/joke.
People saw who the guests were, what the panel discussions would be about, and the events planned. And they signed up for it at the price points that were advertised.

It wasn't bait and switch, just poorly planned and executed.

They know their audience and did what was needed to take advantage of them.

Any, I mean any legit Black voice & org without white involvement is considered a scam or grift on here. There aint one Pro-Black voice or org that avoid that scam label on here

Scam may be a strong word but grift is definitely appropriate. They are taking advantage of people who are not savvy or educated on investments and playing on their emotions. No different than what Jay morrison did with the Tusla fund who took advantage of a desperate and uneducated population. Cause anybody with just a little financial literacy could have looked at the tusla fund or this invest fest $300 to 13K ticket price and known it was a bad investment. The grift is using "black excellence" and other tropes playing on emotion to get people to knowingly make these bad investments for the "greater good" of the community. When in reality all the money is going into the grifters pocket and personal bank account (And ironically eventually back to european owned fashion brands they stunt on you with.. ie the earn your leisure guy braggin about his drip throughout the conference while wearing white owned designer labels and jewelry).

You would be hard pressed to find a professional conference charging 13k or even the 5k for "vip". Only certain demographics would fall for that cause they dont know any better and dont know what a real professional conference looks like.

As others have mentioned, typically professional networking events deal with people offering expertise and knowledge who are accomplished in their fields. Not a bunch of random celebrities. Not sure what La La anthony, Ja rule or 90% of the other folks in their lineup have to do with investing or speaking on subject. Most of the attendess are either folks looking to sell you some overpriced BS or folks looking for get rich quick schemes.

My mom got me a book called the Wealth Choice, which is about successful black Americans and it’s basically this. They knew what they were doing in their field of expertise, that’s why they could bet it all at a critical moment and then become successful.

They weren’t doing “come ups” or Ed edd and Eddy schemes

I’ll say this tho, if you’re around people who paid 13k to get in somewhere, you should be getting peoples info

Even tho i dont subscribe to EYL i dont like it being labeled as a scam fest when all cultures are doing this “pay me to show u how” shyt for everything. I know people that know them from Greenburg and they are regular square dudes who had to put the urban marketing around their platform to get popular.

The flexers and scammers will go of course but that happens in business all the time so i dont agree with trying to crush a platform that are at least pointing people in the right direction or sparking black ownership. We know white folks dont want us buying up property and passing down generational wealth already so i hope these dudes dont get caught up and dissuade people from learning this shyt on their own

A lot of people assume that everything is on the up and up just because the person offering something is black. They will give support solely to help another black person. These scammers and grifters know that so it's a part of their hustle.

When Umar was asking for people to fund his school how many people opened up their wallets no questions asked? You had people getting mad and attacking anyone who had the audacity to ask questions. That school still isn't up and running. The Tulsa fund is another example. People didn't like Jay Morrison being questioned.

Anyone asking for your money in exchange for goods or services needs to be vetted especially when they're asking for you to give them money so they can help you make money. Some people are just easy licks and will get caught up in pyramid schemes, grifts, etc. Hell some of y'all been conned by coli members asking for money:mjlol:
