A lot of people assume that everything is on the up and up just because the person offering something is black. They will give support solely to help another black person. These scammers and grifters know that so it's a part of their hustle.
When Umar was asking for people to fund his school how many people opened up their wallets no questions asked? You had people getting mad and attacking anyone who had the audacity to ask questions. That school still isn't up and running. The Tulsa fund is another example. People didn't like Jay Morrison being questioned.
Anyone asking for your money in exchange for goods or services needs to be vetted especially when they're asking for you to give them money so they can help you make money. Some people are just easy licks and will get caught up in pyramid schemes, grifts, etc. Hell some of y'all been conned by coli members asking for money
My issue is less with the grifting and more about who they prey on which is uneducated and lower income black folks. People that cant afford to loose $500. I remember back then if you questioned Jay Morrison or Umar with basic investment questions you were called all types of c00ns etc. Too many people treat black owned businesses like charity. I dont support anything soley cause its black owned. It has to be quality too. Your competing in a global marketplace. If its 2x more expensive Im not wasting my money just cause its a black store selling it. Im going where its cheapest.
Its ironic for something called invest festival to charge $300+ for tickets when for the majority of attendess that would be a bad investment. Especially those from out of town who had to buy flights and hotel for the weekend. Thats easily over 1k they spent to listen to Ja rule give financial advice.

The fact that this video exists and Boyce Watkins still has a following is crazy to me. That's why I've come to the conclusion that a lot of people don't really give a fukk about grifters. Deep down they actually like to be lied to because it distracts them from taking real action towards their goals. If shyt doesn't get handed to them on a silver platter, they can just blame it on the fake guru that they knew was on bullshyt from the get-go.

What's funny is the info you learn in investment books is also available for free online if a person is studious enough. That doesn't mean books are scams though. If the author of these books you're referring to took their info and formulated them into courses instead of selling them via books, people would call it a scam.
Everyone I know that went said it was nice and informative. Some of these complaints sound like BS and people sound like they were disappointed b/c they didn't tell them a get rich quick scheme or special formula to flip ya money quick. I guess they were expecting Envy and Caesar

I don't think the size mattes. The problem is that whether you have a small event at the local Days In conference room or a large event, the only people who benefit from these events are the hosts who are getting paid. I don't need to spend thousands of dollars to be told to trust my gut, or build relationships with vendors, or to raise my prices alongside the market, or deliver on time and under budget, or any of the other generic stuff you'd hear from that stage. White people have been doing this forever. Tony Robbins was making a killing off this shyt decades ago.
So much of this boils down to worshipping wealth. I'm not an anti-capitalist, I'm not a socialist, I'm not a communist. But I can't help but cringe at what the "black excellence" crowd has become as it puts wealthy black people who have no real impact on the community on a pedestal to be praised and admired. Or worse yet the idea that we need to see success in order to be "motivated" to get out of the ghetto. The church may not be as popular as it once was, but prosperity gospel is alive and well.
