Bucs would have near 40 million in cap space now...the 23 they got is should be more than enough to work with. I would hang on to Revis. He is a difference maker that looks like he has a lot of football left.

Use cap space to improve team...all successful drafts picks, perhaps a qb, will come cheap on the rookie wage scale.

If you ever do get in a bind with money you have Revis with a non guaranteed contract to cut.

Stupid teams will use the Shields contract as a baseline and will overpay.
The Packers fukked up the Free agent market for teams with that Shields deal. Can't blame the teams now for paying the DBS now new worth.

$16 million is looking less and less like a big deal some made it out to be.

lol, no it's not. If his 16 mill weren't a big deal they wouldn't be cutting him. The Bucs are cutting Revis specifically because of his contract.

And he'll fetch probably $2 to $3 million less elsewhere.
The DB salary market is INCREASING. Sherman is going to see at a minimum $15 mill when it's time to get paid.

Yes...you do pay DBs $16 million

He's at least worth $3 to 4 million per more than Sam Shields.
AT LEAST

I really don't get this league sometimes its a crapshoot..there's this ageism that makes no sense..where FA spending is predicated on young age 25 being the sweet spot and potential

fukking Everson Griffen gets 20 mill guaranteed for 17.5 sacks in four years.

Sam Shields get 10 mill per..for what exactly?

While veterans are treated like crap.

Bizarre

:what:

The market has been set..what exactly is stupid about following the baseline the Packers established.

Plus all NFL teams have this paranoia that if they don't pay talent some other team will.

Dude can't help but to label teams when his theory gets smashed in.

Sherm sent that congratulatory tweet to Shields like :pachaha: probably send one to Revis, Verner over the next couple of days

The market has been set for 2014. That doesn't mean giving a CB that type if money is a good idea. It wasn't for the Bucs obviously. Plus Revis has a history of hold outs if he isn't the highest paid player at his position...that's a red flag to teams. Shields doesn't.
