He isn't going to jail, he isn't going to get fired but the NFL is in their legal right to say he hindered the investigation and punish him.

This is about you failing to grasp a simple concept:
It's ILLEGAL for employers to require employees to turn over their personal phones/contents of their personal phones. It's also ILLEGAL for employers to punish employees for refusing to do so. Federal statutes explicitly state this.
Moreover the CBA articulated that the league CANNOT request or demand players to turn over their phones/emails or their contents.

The NFLPA will fight the league to get an independent arbitrator and will likely succeed. If that happens, I fully expect the suspension to get overturned.
If and when this suspension is overturned, Goodell needs to resign.
