All these young dudes see is rappers telling them to kill other black men, women who want men to act like the rappers, their peers walking around mean mugging for no reason, all these other young black men running around talking about “gang” this and that, thinking we are supposed to be “street nikkas” and “real nikkas”, people acting like getting an actual job isn’t a good thing, the fake personas displayed on social media and people not understanding that it’s fake, being teased if they actually go to school and focus on their work, etc; I can keep going for a LONG time.

It’s too late. It’s this “CULTURE” that so many of us look up to

Some of these young dudes have absolutely no love for other black males. You can see the seething hatred and existential dread in their eyes. I believe most of it is misdirected rage from the trauma of being a black male in this society. Knowing that our lives don't really mean much to society at large. And some it is social conditioning from the hyper violent lyrics in Drill rap.
What are you talking about? This wasn't my experience growing up at all and we grew up with gangsta fukking murder rap :bryan:

Y'all stay pushing these moral panic threads, got a bunch of tipper gore losers on this thread.

@bourgeoisie tall freak what does the book of Genesis have to do with it? Please break it down.

chapter 4 my "brother"
people who think this behavior started "da culture" clearly lack knowledge and understanding of worldly things. this is not a new phenomenon for "black men" only... nor will it ever stop.

Everyone is saying it's rap but why are kids looking to rap in the first place and acting on it, if it is the cause? It's not rap. It's the feelings that drove them to rap in the first place. Without rap, these kids would still have these issues. Rap is not the cause and merely soundtrack to what is already there. Replacing that with anything else would have the same effect.

The issue is, we don't value these boys and men as we should. We treat them rather terribly and do nothing to address the issues they encounter in the system and even more, in their homes. It's why some will listen to the same music and be fine but others do wild shyt, regardless of how many parents or what not in the home. At most, rap is a black male power fantasy. A black man striking out at a society that has turned its back on him and him taking what's his through force, fury, and guile. Without rap, these issues would still be unaddressed and the kids would still be messed up. If anything, I feel like rap has stopped many of these kids from being worse than what they could be because of how little regard we give them.

Consider:
Everyone knows about this I keep posting:

Black boys being singled out and treated terribly even by their own race, from a young age by teachers, people we entrust to teach our kids.
Add the issues of school to prison pipeline that is a real thing.
Add the constant male bashing some see both in their homes, the real world, and the internet.
Add the refusal to even acknowledge their issues in our society, even black society, even among black men (one thing I do blame black men for).
Add the constant gaslighting people who are supposedly smarter than such kids, do to them.
Add the fact that many people we hold up are the same people these kids would regard as terrible.
Add the things society as a whole puts on black boys ("superpredators" was not some obscure sentiment shared by some random person).
Add that we don't even take the time to sit down and talk about these issues with these kids as if they're human beings and pass off any attempt to treat them properly as "coddling".
Then it is no surprise how they end up like this. If anything, how could they not? Imagine calling someone crazy and being surprised they resent you for it? I mean really now.

We need to do a better job talking to these boys and men and actually acknowledge the issues that they face instead of acting like it is all in their head.

death metal, narcocorrido, it's not the music
Death metal is such an underground thing now it's not even relevant. Furthermore, death metal is to white ppl what crunk music is in hiphop. It's moreso just about aggression.

Not shooting your fellow brother, not stealing your homies girl, not selling drugs to your own family members, not wishing death on your brothers

Above the fray.
It all starts at home. Less broken homes would be an awesome start.
People will avoid what you wrote here as well as the other members who have said it .

On top of all the external hurdles, many young men are born into and raised under less than ideal conditions and households. That hurdle is incredibly hard to overcome because it's supposed to be the place to give you the tools to confront those external hurdles.
