I honestly can't wait to have kids. I'm 29 now and in a very stable position.

Most of you guys aren't stable financially tho, so you shouldn't have kids. that's a mature thing to do.

I want to have kids because of the ideal of what I think I'd have. There's no telling tho. If I had a bunch of lazy, unmotivated heathens I'd probably hate life. There's only so much you can do as a parent. Imagine if you bred a serial killer? wow

@Gator Reloaded sorry for the loss of your parents. but be glad they didn't see you go. i only have my mom left and as much as I dont want to see her go I know she'd be miserable for life if her only son died before her.

I'm on the fence to be honest. I just recently got on Facebook and I see all my friends from High school have kids but they're almost all doing the same things in life. A lot of the guys just look broken by life with fake smiles and newly formed beer guts. I have 2 little nephews that I love to death but they take so much work and my sister and her husband never have time for anything.

The most terrifying thing about having kids is if it doesn't work out with their mother. Her mood and how she feels towards me can have a major negative impact on my life. She could use the children to get back at me in some way and there's no way to know how someone will react at the end of a relationship/marriage.

not really interested in having children. when i see these tragedies that happen like school shootings or just random acts of violence, and how these parents will never be the same again, i lean more on the side of not having them.

i almost died when i was 7 due to fracturing the left and back side of my skull. my mom told me if i died she wouldnt have known how to move on in life. maybe she commits suicide or lives out being on pills, just trying to survive everyday without her baby. shyt like that has me questioning if i want them. if i lost something that i loved more than myself and life itself, i dont know how i could move on.

I guess we all have a biological urge, and at some point we "settle" down and want to pass down education, knowledge etc. I personnaly don't think I'll be having kids, which kind of freaks me out tbh, but the thing is that being 32 years old and still not stable financially, mentally and emotionnaly means that time is running out and chances I meet THE woman I feel good about settling down with and having kids with are getting slimmer by the day. And the way I grew up, I don't have a good "understanding" about what a "family" is or works, so I think the kids would end up being even more fukked up than I am.

I try to kick it with my nephews but tbh I'm too self-centered to do a very good job at it.

Found out my chick miscarried today so this thread is touchy for ya boy. I'm scared to have a kid. I guess I'm scared cuz being responsible for a life who's completely depending on you is hard to wrap your mind around. But had her pregnancy been ok I woulda been on board had she decided to have the kid. Which I'm sure she woulda. She was cool but we was watching rockets sun's game and she started balling for a good 15. Can't front when the doc said what was up I got Lil teary eyed.

And then they might get bullied in school or be very sick or depressed
why bring another person in this depressing, unfulfilling, unfair, shytty world?

Logically it makes no sense to have children in today's society...

Our ancestors needed many children because...
1) Mortality was high
2) They needed help to farm, hunt, essentially survive...
3) They needed somebody to take care of them in their old age...

However, we are living in the "service" age...If you have money, you can pretty much buy any service...

A child is not necessarily going to better your chance of survival, in fact, a lot of the research today shows that children are more and more dependent on their parents well past their mid-20s...

Basically, for educated people, children of today are either an accessory to make the parents feel good about themselves (if they are lucky enough to have good children) or children are just a result of carrying on with tradition...

For not so educated people, children are just mistakes, as they have always been for these kinds of people since the beginning of time...

If you are poor, children could be a hope for a better future...

If you are rich, you should be living your life to the max, and I don't see how you can do that if you have to dedicate your life to somebody else's happiness...

There really is no "intelligent design" for human's to keep reproducing, but nature is genius that it made sex feel so good, and love/lust put us in states that we are so "high" from pleasure that we forget or outright ignore to use contraception during copulation, to ensure that we keep making mistakes, and thus, keep reproducing...

Also, nature gave us tradition/customs to ensure that we are indoctrinated with ideologies that encourage to keep reproducing...

People who do not have the ideologies of reproducing, don't reproduce, and thus, their genes don't get passed on...In this way, nature ensures that people with a predisposition to "pro-reproduction" indoctrination outnumber those without it, and thus, more humans willing to reproduce are born than those who are not...

Nature is just pure genius...We think we have "free will" but we are just following a script that is encrypted in our DNA and environment...
