Cam was a Super Celeb

not a Super Star

Wu-Tang as a whole were Superstars..they touched the whole world

to be a star u must be seen worldy and felt worldly

hense the word STAR

NOPE. Even at his peak in '02- '06 he wasn't that popular outside of NY (maybe not even in NY :lupe:). After Hey Ma I don't think I have heard a Cam song on the radio EVER...maybe Dipset Anthem got a couple spins? Dipset's peak was right in the middle of the Maximum Jigga dikkriding Era, G-Unit Era and The South taking over mainstream hip hop. They were big on the internet before internet hip hop was big...

What if I told you I can't stand WU-Tang group albums and the only members I like were Ghostface, Rakwon, Method man and that I didn't hear any one playing WU Tang until I was grown and it was a white dude playing it?

You make no damn sense and you come off beyond ignorant. Don't give a fukk who you listen to when/where or how

You do realize a white guy listening to Wu-Tang actually adds to my statement right

I am 100% certain the people who disagree are under 22 years old. That and they don't have enough evidence to shut me up.

Cam went gold on SDE, which was a more street/darker album than his debut. it was kinda quiet for him before he got to the Roc. From '01-'02, he was everywhere. I'm speaking from a NYC POV because it was Ground Zero here for him. Those Diplomats mix tapes set the tone and raised his stock.

That's all well and good. But when you use the word "superstar" that is taking somebody's popularity well beyond a gold and platinum album , mixtapes and independent movies. Superstars have paparazzi flood the block when they go to eat, they get name dropped in tv shows/movies/newscasts with frequency, they get worldwide magazine covers. A music superstar would be recognized by people of all races and all ages even if they aren't familiar with his work or are not into his genre of music. There are only a handful of rappers that have ever been on the level of true superstardom

its a difference between being a hood superstar and bein a region superstar
a region superstar a be hot for 2 years top and down talk everybody, den fall off and cant come back to his hood or wen he do, he gets no respect

a hood superstar(camron) can go platinum and still come to the hood wen he platinum and wen he not relevant (the mainstream suburb favorite word), he can still come back and fit in cuz he never left....

something u hipsters know nothin bout
if u wasnt around wen dipset was takin over the mixtape game, den u know nothin

Exactly. And Wu-Tang as a collective during their prime went through this...just not on some OD shyt...the media has changed greatly sense then/// If anything Cam and Dipset are Ghetto Superstars. I think Cam could of been a Superstar if he detached himself from his roots. But that basically be turning his back against what made him...he never took that step....like Jay did...

Then its the later. I'm sorry, I didn't know you were the spokesmen of down south. I did not know Wu-Tang had no influence what-so-ever in the south during the 90s. I guess Raekwon paid Outkast to be on their album :wow:
