Do they get to the finals so Magic could even have the opportunity to win finals MVP without Kareem? Do you know Kareem averaged 31 and 12 in the playoffs that same year? Do you know that Kareem averaged 33 pts 13 rebs and 4.5 blks in that same series that Magic got finals MVP and only missed ONE game? Do you know that Kareem was already a champion when Magic entered the league? And a 5 time MVP with his 6th coming in Magic's rookie season? See people give Magic credit even though he was playing with a dominant force in Kareem. Im with that. Yet with Kobe, they use him playing with a dominant force against him. Even though his "dominant force" was one that became unusable in crunch time unlike Kareem who was a career 70ish% FT shooter? And finals MVP is cool and all, but it's one round out of 4. Dominating that one round is great but it doesn't outweigh the totality of the playoffs..
Umm James Harden played in the same "get the ball and do whatever you want" type of system TMac did.So what? And TMac had a high usage rate too. So what?Harden led teams still had way more in season success and went way further in the playoffs than any TMac led team ever did. Yet James gets mocked for his lack of playoff success while TMac gets excuses made for him. So you can say James is a bad example because of how he did it yet that cant apply to TMac?
You call me surface level but leave Phil Jackson's impact to "he taught them how to win"? Explain why Shaq was still lazy? Why did he (his words)stop playing defense when he didnt get the amount of touches he wanted? Why was he still NOT working on his game in the summer (his words)? Why did he hurt the team by waiting until the season was about to start to have a surgery he could have had months earlier?
What TMac showed in his career was that he didnt have the intangibles in his game that Kobe had. Its not automatic that Phil instills that in him...
