Should we acknowledge that CM Punk's accomplishments and 'trailblazing' is being erased because.....

"Vince loves big muscle guys" was just a byproduct of an era where legit big fukking dudes got involved in wrestling.

I agree with this. Wrestling was like a cartoon show in the 80s and 90s. Dudes were built cartoonishly huge, everyone in the top of the cards even back in territories for the most part looked like Ryback.

I haven't had a chance to read this whole thread but there were two instances that were huge for Punk, both fan reactions. Yes, Heyman was big for him but when he showed up on a show at the Hammerstein he received a big pop and then when he was on that Survivor Series team with HBK and Hunter.. he received a bigger reaction then them or the Hardys and Hunter was looking around like :dwillhuh:

I think that's where Hunter started to realize that the indy feds and places like ROH were bigger than they might seem because of everyone having broadband internet and access to alternatives.

Vince on the other hand still doesn't understand why fans like these guys and that's why he won't push them because Vince only views the world through his eyes.

I thinm vince likes punk and bryan because he respects how much they love/loved the business and their passion
He just was deadset on his image of a star. Hhh on the otherhand has a new vision for stars and is willing to take a chsnce on bryan/owens/rollins types

I just think he never liked cm punk...maybe respected his work ethic and his skill but probably personality

Even at Punk's height, when was better than Danielson in the ring? Dudes were clowning Punk all the time for Metro and Blandy...now that a much more beloved guy retired because actually bled for the business, Punk is Macho Man from WM 3 level? Preposterous.

Punk was definitely never better in the ring than Bryan. Punk was probably the sloppiest, least athletic dude to be at his level. It's so weird. He overcame it by being able to talk and understand story telling in the ring, but damn that dude was just SO nonathletic.

Punk was ahead of his time. The Straight Edge Society run was legit, just because he took it so far. That Bible Belt heat :banderas:

The Pipebomb Promo put a bunch of eyes on the product that had no interest otherwise.

Summer Of Punk was fukking with the perceptions of what a 'work' was three years before Vince and Hunter coined 'The Reality Era'.

Money In The Bank 2011 is still one of the GOAT culminations of a feud this decade too.
That's my personal GOAT right there. :to:

The narrative I've seen in the last few days is that Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe and CM Punk were the guys who blazed a trailed for the new breed of Indie Wrestlers and the ROH legacy and it was mainly Joe and Danielson first and then Punk just after them

Not sure if its being erased.
