If his heart wasn't into it, then yes he should have sat out the season and got his mental issues in order. As I've said before, it's fairly obvious that Kyrie has had some form of mental health issues for years. That's why I don't like how people tell Kyrie to abide by the CBA he agreed to and talk to the media, but turn around in the same vein and tell Osaka that she shouldn't have to in spite of it being contracted in some tournament participation.
If you want to reap the benefits of being a celebrity and public figure (they both do), then those type of obligations are a part of increasing your bread and notoriety. Those sports media people have a job to do just as much as those people at Cosmopolitan or other outlets that cover you as well.

There's thousands of athletes around the world that have spent nearly every day for the past years training and preparing for the Olympics. I get fans may not care about the games or have interest this year, but the large majority of those competing won't share the same feeling of waiting another three years.
Understood. So lets say that the QB in my hypothetical did have some serious trauma in their childhood/teenage years. My question still applies - will they get the same kind of support for backing out on Super Bowl Sunday?

i went at Ben Simmons because all that's public knowledge is that he is underperforming and being lazy in the offseason.

I do find it rather disingenuous in that we've talked about athletes being the GOAT for years with no problems or issues whatsoever, but now it's become a problem because of issues involving Simone Biles
Especially considering that she's even put the term "GOAT" on her own clothing

She actually referred to herself as the goat and wore a goat uniform. I respect a lot of different opinions in here but articles like that are ridiculous.
That's why in a way I kind of don't feel sympathy for her seeing as she also helped contribute to some of the pressure and expectations on herself with the "GOAT" talk and uniform
