They can't really do away with SNAP as they make it seem; at best, all they can do is make cuts, but abolishing it completely is bad PR, with political repercussions (hunger crisis, etc) especially considering they don't have no alternative program in place, so this doesn't really help, as we're seeing right now, the optics is backfiring on the GOP/Trump, it's not a political flex considering a hefty segment of their base receive and constituents (congressmen and congresswomen) have to be in favor of it for political reasons.

You can't just cut 40+ million people, from children, the elderly, the disabled, etc, off of a vital food program with no alternatives in place to ensure the people don't go hungry and think it's all gonna go smooth as if it won't have any repercussions.

My sons' school asked parents if they could donate some food items to help the ppl/families who are affected by this. We'll probably pick some stuff up today.

I don't get into all of that stuff about "if you don't work you don't eat" type of stuff because kids can't work and one of the saddest things to see is kids going to bed hungry. I will never put my nose in the air like I ain't never came up and we had to use govt assistance. One suggestion I have for folks who don't like to give out money is buy gift cards to restaurants and give them out. Dollar Tree has $25 Mcdonald gift cards for example. That could help out a kid or family for a little bit.
