True but you definitely don't want to be that guy in that book but I would be moreso into cashing out and enjoying life unlike some of these cats. Seems they love this shyt like their only child while for 3/4 billion I'm done and bout to be on my Mayweather money team flow lol. Not like you can't potentially start a non competing business if you want to like the dude Gurbaksh Chahal. Cat sold two business for 340million combines by 25 crazy.

I read that Foursquare turned down a $125 million offer from Yahoo two years after starting the website. Now Foursquare is worth about $600 million so it ended up being a good choice in hindsight but......I'm sorry breh.....there's no way I'm turning down $125 million to run some play company that doesn't really make anything that could go belly up at any moment. If you owned 20% of the company, that's $25 million in cold cash for a stupid ass app you made. Now you can go make another stupid ass app and because you're rich now, you can live out your Steve Jobs fantasy and not sell out.

Yeah but his point is the og owners of youtube could be ultra billionaires if they wouldn't have just took up the first offer. Youtube is as vital to socities daily lives as facebook is and is infinitely more useful than facebook could ever dream to be.

But damn, you make 100's of millions for a couple years work, you can't be too mad I guess, and who knows if they'd have taken the same steps goofle did in order to tjrn youtube into the social powerhouse it is.

2 other things though

1. Googles had youtube since '06? :dwillhuh: I thought they acquired youtube at around '09

2. If facebook is worth 120B, how much is google worth? :dwillhuh:
i dont think youtube would be as good without all the money google pumped into it so its a double edged sword

This is the perfect example of "living to work" instead of "working to live"

This dude wants to protect his baby that he brought into the world, and continue to work hard and get more and more out of it. Meanwhile the most valuable thing in this world is time, because you can never purchase more of it. And he wants to waste it away instead of taking a payout that will leave his entire bloodline set for eternity, able to do whatever he wants all day long every day and travel anywhere, have beautiful women crawling at his feet, living better than a king.

Work is not life. At 23 he doesn't understand this. Myspace Tom understood this.

Exactly I would definitely do it unless I REALLLLLLLYYY thought this shyt had Facebook type staying power. I would do it for 120 so for 3 billion I'm definitely outta here and tbh I never heard of the app until yesterday. Its only so many apps that can be essential to a majority of people on a regular basis and this doesn't seem like one but I could be wrong.

fukk it im gonna go create an app
You should it seems like its still new enough you can make some $$$

I agree I don't want to "live to work". I want to enjoy this finite time I and my people have. I know you need something to do but the stuff I would do I wouldn't be bored but these dudes have different mindsets than us in this regard.

I wonder if when they turn down a $4B deal if it's because they're no longer gonna have controlling interest...or if it's because a lot of that $4B isn't exactly in cash or what? There has to be some sort of stipulation there.

You're right. Google paid $1.65 Billion for Youtube. Really, the founders should have got 8 or 10 Billion. If they held out another year or two, they'd got it. Problem was....what Youtube was doing was technically illegal. Users uploaded all types of copyrighted content on there and Youtube was about to get sued out the ass. You're a small tech company, running on a few million dollars of venture capital. They'd got squashed going up against large media conglomerates in court. Partnering up with a massive company like Google was the only choice.

I would of sold but I also didn't invent an app that gets offers for 3 or 4 billion so I'm not going to call these guys stupid. I wouldn't want to live to work either but some people do, to each their own.

you don't turn down 4 billion for an app like snapchat. They don't have the infrastructure like google or Facebook has. Thats why those 2 offered so much....all they see is dollar signs because they have the WORLD connected to them.

snapchat in its current form is a fukking gimmick with a cool name. I hope dude has another trick up his sleeve because all google and Facebook have to do is incorporate the same idea in their mobile messengers and it will blow snapchat out.

Facebook tried to do that and flopped, which is why they're trying to buy snapchat.
