so 3.9 yards per rush makes you a HOF these days?

Longevity is great but it doesn't mean you are a hall of famer :mjpls:

I could see how some people might think Bettis is a compiler if you didn't watch him play but there is something to be said for dominance even in a relatively short time frame.. Its the Hall of Fame not the Hall of pretty good..

Terrell Davis dominated the NFL during his time.

The Hall of Fame in my opinion is for dominant football players

Priest holmes was dominant in 3 years. does that make him a HOF

No....

Terrell davis has like 2,600 more yds rushing than Gale Sayers..

He ran for 2,000 yds, was the engine for a dynastic team that won 2SBs in a row and won SB MVP and an NFL MVP..

There is a case to be made for TD not for Priest Holmes

Fred Taylor was an amazing RB with so much talent. I mean he was basically a 230lb shifty back.. He was hurt in the beginning of his career but he still Johnny Rambo'd (R.I.P Ruck) out almost 12,000 career rushing yds..

He was an awesome talent..

4.6 ypc for his career too :sas2:

Fellas this isnt hip hop where you someone has a 3-4 year run and now they are the HOF WORTHY. Actually, you can compare this to hip hop now that i think about it.

1. Terrell davis is Notorious big- careers both cut short(death, injuries) yet people still put these 2 in the HOF

2. barry Sanders- andre 3000. Consistent. both left at the top of their game. even though they are both retired, people still talk about them to this day

Add on.

I view having a 3-4 year run and subsequently having a long career in mediocrity as being the same as having a 3-4 year run and retiring

the craig biggio of the nfl. never near the top of the game long enough to get in. he even said tonight if he hadnt have made that tackle in the postseason when they beat the colts and he doesnt get that ring hes probably not in the hall. if thats the cutoff to being in the hall, he certainly doesnt belong. its comical that terrell davis will be on the outside looking in, while bettis and his ilk get in there

Bettis played the majority of his career with no quarterback or offense to relieve the pressure. He went against 8 in the box his whole career and lasted. When he retired he was 5th all time (now 6th) in rushing and top 10 all time rushing TDS . Impressive given his size and the garbage qbs he's had since 93. Was money in short yardage, with the exception of that goal line fumble against the colts in the playoff. If Big BEn doesn't make that saving tackle then we don't win Super Bowl XL and bettis gets the blame. But that didn't happen so :martin:

How's that diff from Eddie George Jamal Lewis Frank Gore, etc? Bettis isn't unique, a lot of terrible qbs have started games

1555 yards 8 tds.
1615 21 tds
1420 27 tds.

thats not dominant?

He was great but he wasn't the best RB in the league any of those years. It was either Marshall Faulk or LaDanian Tomlinson. Additionally Terrell Davis was the best player on two championship teams
