hes fred taylor with a steelers logo on his helmet. bettis played 2 more seasons than taylor. the difference between the 2 in their decade as starters is negligible. cutting out bettis 2 last years where he was a part timer he averaged 74 yards per game. 18.9 carries a game. taylor averaged 80.5 yards per game, on one less carry per game. go head and shrine bettis tho because he held on those extra 3 years as a marginal role player/td vulture. what do you know, those last 3 years he held as a part timer totaled 2k yards. fred taylor isnt sniffing the hall, which is right where bettis should be
so 3.9 yards per rush makes you a HOF these days?

bus played 93-2005 - 12 years
now why did fred play less and get less carries and yards... cause he wasn't good enough to start and he wasn't healthy enough to start as many games as the bus

IF fred got 1000 more carries, who knows if that avg would have stayed that high, or if he would have caught up on tds, or if he wouldn't have snapped his leg in 18 pieces... that's why they don't vote on ifs
Same as Curtis Martin longevity and consistency is what got the Bus in the Hall. He was not the most spectacular player and the ring probably put him over the top but there are lesser players in the Hall then him too.

Durability is mainly the one thing most hall of fame players have in common. It's a skill in of itself.

13,662 yds, 91 TDs, 6 pro bowls over an 11 year span (only 2 all pros tho), a ring on the way out = nothing to sneeze at
maybe being a Steeler helped him get in, but there a far less deserving players from that franchise in the HoF
