Unfortunately.
Young NY nikkas don't only listen to trap and down South music :heh:

Most young NY nikkas are Fabolous stans, there's arguments on Drake, Cole, Kendrick all the time. Young NY nikkas fukk with Meek and French too and have an appreciation for Jay, Nas, LOX and Dipset. There's young nikkas thats backpackers and like Pro Era, etc.

The hottest new rapper in the city is from the Bronx and not the South. The mainstream trap music is played and there's young nikkas that's drill heads but we like lyricists too.
No one is saying they only listen to trap rap. But they do compare who's better between those guys at rapping. Their ears are trained different than ours tho. So what qualifies is dope to them is different to us. Thugga is my favorite rapper of the new class and he has some slick lines. Future....not really.

Young person here, no one is seriously debating those two as lyricists even if we enjoy them.

I think Future better than Thug and Fewtch low key got clever lines and well written songs too and makes better full projects. I like songs by Thug but not entire projects.

Thug your favorite rapper of the new class though shyt kinda surprising.:ehh:

Personally I fukk with Dave East and Kodak the most.

:ohhh:, wow, that's an ill thought.
I usually have one or two a year breh :lolbron:
But word, the kids today probably debate about who sold more albums and who be on the radio more and shyt like that, :wrist:
This is what I would expect.
Little Brother hinted at this on The Listening back in 2003, can't even imagine how bad it would be today.
He actually did mention Prodigy lol

I'm from where the hammers rung, news cameras never come, where you and your mans hung in every verse of your rhyme :mjpls:
Crazy subliminal reference :wow:
I didn't catch it at the time.
Interesting that Jay decided to go the super subliminal route against Hell On Earth era P :ohhh:
Lol they actually do. They actually argue about who's a better rapper. I've heard it many times. A lot of kids think these trap rappers are nice at rapping.
I would love to see one of those conversations just to be sitting there like :dwillhuh:the whole time.
Nobody who thought it was written was a sellout album thought reasonable was a classic
Exactly.
Same people lauded BIG as a sellout too. Usually wu or bootcamp fans.
People forget this so much. Hip hop had so much integrity back then.
Canibus didnt blow till 98
He never really blew, but he was definitely bubbling in 97, he got the hip hop quotable with Lost Boyz and was on the Firm album and Common's album.
Just a generalization. I done herd lil kids debatin who the best MC (names i herd were fab pun nas big kiss) on a subway before.
That's good to hear
Yea @mobbinfms this is a prodigy mention. On the infamous prodigy tells the story of them runnin thru sumner houses with illa
We jetted through Marcy...cause D's ain't bagging me :wow:
Somehow Jay got on his Takeover steez and changed that to every verse in your rhyme :mjlol:

Yeah, I like Thugga projects more. I can't get into Future. Thug reminds me of Wayne but more artistically inclined but less lyrical (obviously). Dave East is nice, need to hear more from Kodak. I love a couple of his songs.
