cuz he is legit in between both categories. who from that era is selling albums? kanye i guess, but didn't COLE sell more albums than ye with NO PROMOTION last year? i swear it's a fukking era thing. 50 is in the lost era when we (his fans at the time) all had torrents/megaupload/limewire right after his first album. people i know from that era don't buy music. people who are a little younger than me i.e. my cousin 5 years younger than me... out here buying shyt on itunes like she can't get it for free.

Well I could argue Kanye as you did, which is valid and throws off your theory. I would also argue T.I. since his last album debuted with triple what 50's did. Even Rick Ross who debuted in 06 is doing better. I could argue all that but I think you're over-thinking it, you either have a fanbase or you don't, it really is that simple.

Despite a huge media push Grande couldn't capitalize. I'd imagine it'll have legs and do well during the holidays though, but still...it's a testament to how far sales have fallen off for everyone. That album would have done 300-500k first week a decade ago.

Will be interesting to see how Adele sells.

i don't know when dudes started riding hard for TI. i know it wasn't in the i'm serious/trap muzik days and i know must dudes DEF weren't on Ross original release. i'm prob picking a corner to die on here, but 50 was a mainstream icon in 2003. the following 3-5 years was when downloading music FOR FREE online was at its peak imo. i think TI peaked around 2008/2009 as far as mainstream popularity and Ross probably peaked in i don't even know what year, but it wasn't the year Port of Miami dropped.

That argument just doesn't hold weight B, you can't say 50 is in a weird selling space because he was at a certain popularity level who blew up in a certain year, because you're narrowing the field down to just him. Kanye is the only one who kinda fits your parameters and he's doing fine because he has fans. 50's goal as a mainstream artist is to reach masses with his music, to convince them that it's good enough to support it and him as an artist, and it isn't working at all.

but the internet is reacting to them at a level higher than they are to jeezy's album and jeezy will sell 20x-50x more than this ep. i'm telling you their timing in the industry has a lot to do with it.

there's a reason why dudes like cole are selling more than YE with no promo though. it's different generations and levels to this shyt.
