Didnt resign chandler
didnt resign butler
didnt re-sign barrea
didnt resign stevenson

signed vince carter:childplease:
signed delonte west:stopitslime:

Got Swept by a team they beat up the year before

Now terry is gone
kidd is gone

Alll of this for a chance to sign deron williams
who just gave him the :dwillhuh:

and resigned with the nets

it took him 12 years to make a championship team and he ruined it all in a year:snoop:

it was all good just a year ago?:yeshrug:

:what: I don't think the Mavs even had the ability to give Chandler a max deal and give long term overpaid contracts to Stevenson, JJ, and Butler. Even if they tried, I don't see that team beating the Thunder. Then everyone would be pointing out how they missed Deron because Cuban fell in love with an old team and fukked his future for a team that won once.

lol my bad
i meant ray allen and nash.

they swept la dog
i dont care bout games la "usually wins"
dallas whopped dem
den beat a solid okc team
young or not, a lot of ppl had em losin to portland in da first round:snoop:
so i aint tryin to hear dat
then they beat da big three

ill never understand why teams dat win championships break up their teams da following year
makes no sense

now they at square one

Miami whooped everybody back in 06. How'd they look 2 years later? :scusthov:

It was a calculated risk. They could have come back this year and won a title but it's unlikely. With older teams the bottom drops out fast. There's no way they have the same hunger this year that they had last year and that hunger for a ring is what got them over the hump against more talented teams. Cuban didn't wanna be stuck in no mans land with a bunch of satisfied old guys. It's better to be bad with cap room than to be mediocre with no cap room and limited options.

This is petty much the most selective, weird, and wrong way to look at what happened with the Mavs. Butler didn't play a part in their championship run. Stevenson couldn't have been more expendable, Barrea could only end up overpaid, and letting Chandler go was a move that might permit them to contend again in another year or two. Kidd was on his last leg before they won that chip. And what the hell does Jet leaving have to do with it?

That team wasn't going to repeat anyways to be honest. It was one of those lighting in a bottle type deals.

After him being a strong voice about CP3 going to my squad, im glad he didn't get a good point guard either

I hate when people say our championship was "lighting in a bottle". :pacspit: at that stuff, we had the best TEAM in the league that year. Everyone knew their roles and nobody tried to step outside of that. Our ball movement was sick all season, it was just noticed more on the bigger stage. Everyone here in Dallas knew about that team

There was something special about the 2011 team. I always noticed how in the last 5 minutes of games how the paint was suddenly on lockdown (Tyson). The team collectively shot threes better than usual last year, and the level of competition/amount of reps they got in practice had a direct effect on that. It would have been foolish to resign everyone from that team for more money, but Tyson Chandler should have gotten a legit contract offer at least. It's a lot easier to build around a solid frontcourt than it is to try to pair everything in one year. And apparently "you get to play with Dirk!" isn't the free agent magnet we imagined it to be.:dwillhuh:

I am not gonna take anything away from Dallas, they showed up made big shots, played with heart and ran a zone that was disruptive. Still though, I do believe Mia had the better team. I would not call it lightening in a bottle. I was more just about LeBron playing like trash.

mav's were the best team in the regular season that year.

until the caron injury,......

then, dallas retooled and developed even better chemistry behind carlisle's coaching and pedigree.

imo,...after the title win.

they should have resigned chandler and butler.

that was what cost them being able to compete in the off's out west after the title.

yet butler was a questionmark, salary wise and performance after injury-wise

then the mav's spreadsheeted chandler.

which was a mistake, as chandler was the most able bodied center for them.

as their other undersized projects at center failed....

trading for a big wing forward in odom was a bad idea as well.

as vince with chandler was a good idea to replace stevenson,..

if they resigned barea,...and kept chandler and left off oh-dumb.

they could have had a great chance to repeat.

i am not sure why after all these years with failed center projects.

did cuban not resign, chandler.

then traded away zeller and alexi, before that.

with no paint presence and a real sevenfooter,...dallas can for forget winnig again.

interior paint presence/shot blocking by an of-sized energy type center.
is what always separated them from being a winner.

not re-signing chandler was their biggest mistake,.....

no,....dallas had a higher execution level and pedigree coaching wise.

which is why they beat, the heat last year.

bron was forced into the bad play.

carlisle basically built on the spurs finals blueprint and bron playing out of position.

to beat the the heat last year,....

bron should move to his natural in november, imo.

as it allows them to get bigger in the frontcourt and allows bosh to play his natural at the three.

Dont u think resigning him woulda made dem a stronger team goin forward?
I think u r also forgettin how good dallas was playin in reg season before butler got hurt.
They were a very good team, they were just dismissed cause of past failures

Lettin chandler go was retarded. He was probably da second most imporrant player on da team and he WANTED to come back.

Barrea wasnt askin for dat much and say what u want bout stevenson, but he played well in da dallas system.

The jet has "somethin to do with it" because hes leaving for boston now. Pretty much every player dat had somethin to do with dem winnin a championship besides dirk is gone within a year and for nothing

Keepin dat team togeher or atleast most of it woulda made da most sense. They arent as "old" as ppl make it out to be, and da three main players to resign:butler chandler and barrera are all young and playin well

Even dirk and terry said it was dumb

Cuban won a championship and den decided to rebuild
He outsmarted himself
