That's tough. If you got anymore family I would gather them together, let him know how many people still care about him. After that if that is what he wants to do then it's his decision. Hope he has everything in order, like a will, funeral wishes.

I'm sure you did everything you could, Maybe he doesn't want to be a burden to you.

Praying for you op. I'm an only child that's lost a parent as well and I know it's hard but respect his decision. It's not selfish. I wouldn't want a loved one to live in constant emotional and physical pain just so they could still be around. I would want them to be at peace no matter how hard it may be on the people who are left. Support him, comfort him and cherish him while you can. God bless.

TYRONE GA!
The man has a small kidney and it seems like he gave up. He's tired of going to treatment. RIP my old man. I talked to him but.... I actually did this before and I thought everything was fine, he met new friends but I just thought I'd share this with y'all because I truly believe no one else cares

He said he's just tired of going 3 days out of the week and I'm preparing for whenever he dies in his sleep.

I never thought I'd would make one of these posts but here I am

shyt fam, can't imagine.

but if that is what he wishes and is tired of the pain, what do you do? :to:

No words can really describe and capture how rough dialysis is.

My mother has been on dialysis for 15 years now. Always in good shape/health but was given some wrong medication that killed her kidneys.

She had a transplant some 10 years ago and the kidney worked for about a year then it rejected and she had to go through the process all over again.

She talked about just giving up and dying as well and I remember the fear and anger I felt hearing her say those words.

However her faith has given her strength to keep going.

In her own words, “She wouldn’t wish dialysis on her worst enemy.”

I’ve been through the highs and lows with her and totally understand why some no longer want to suffer going 3 sometimes 4 days a week for 3 to 4 hour sessions.

Like some of the other posters have said on here, I know it sucks but you need to accept and respect your father’s wishes and just spend as many days that you have left close by his side.

It’s not about being not tough enough or selfish by your father. You need to understand that despite that machine cleaning his blood he is slowly dying everyday and only prolonging the inevitable. Dialysis patients on average only live around 10 years taking dialysis before their body just shuts down.

My mother has been fortunate that she has no other pre existing conditions and due to her health has survived this long on dialysis.

Prayers to you and your family bro.

Sorry to hear that

My father has been going to dialysis for years with kidney problems so I understand to some degree about the toll it takes on people

And it's not just the dialysis but my father bonds with the people sitting beside him and everytime one disappears he gets really depressed

Hopefully it's a miracle and your father survives, salute to you and your family
