Dialysis takes a tole on the body. My dealings with dialysis was thru my brother. He went from a cat that was living a nice live to being shriveled up and depressed and miserable. He wasn’t himself anymore and the side effects from the dialysis and medications he couldn’t even have sex no more. He ended up dying in a car accident.

I say all that to say this, I wasn’t happy my brother died but i was relieved the he didn’t have to live that way anymore.

Your father should be at the top of the list for a transplant, it's been 6 years for him. You can also go out of state too

They also just developed artificial kidney implants, maybe he should look into those options?

I'm sorry to hear brother :mjcry:

My father actually had a cardiac arrest when on dialysis, took him to the hospital and died 6 days later. It puts a lot of stress on the body and my father HATED it but did it for us to live longer.

I'm sorry you have to go through your father's death man. Been there and it truly hurts to see a loved one dying in front of you and you're left powerless. :wow: My prayers to you.

They place you on a machine that cleans the blood, seeing your kidneys no longer provide that function.

You are fitted with a permanent catheter.

Its about a 6 hour process.

A good friend of my goes to dialysis twice a week.

Can get very stressful.

I feel for op.

Both my parents have kidney disease.

Keep positive energy @Kid Dynamite

A 6 hour process:mindblown:. The patients I hear only for 3 to 4 hours:gucci:

Op have you thought about donating your kidney? They usually match donors if they can't use yours

Damn. I’m sorry to hear. You can’t really say stay strong because it’s impossible and that’s your dad and I hate cliche things. Just spend as much time as you can with him.

How is your relationship with your mom?

I literally had to take care of my grandmother before she passed and things like that are never easy

The man has a small kidney and it seems like he gave up. He's tired of going to treatment. RIP my old man. I talked to him but.... I actually did this before and I thought everything was fine, he met new friends but I just thought I'd share this with y'all because I truly believe no one else cares

He said he's just tired of going 3 days out of the week and I'm preparing for whenever he dies in his sleep.

I never thought I'd would make one of these posts but here I am
.sorry to hear that breh. Dialysis is brutally draining so I understand why he wants to quit. That doesn't make it any less hard on you though.

Did he have any hope to get on a transplant list? Would you consider donating to him?

When I was younger I didn't want to grow up.
I remember being like 8 paranoid of growing up.
I knew life was just going to get rougher, people i depended on were going to go away forever and things were just going to get more complicated. 35 now and it's just as I feared. Time makes things easier but then it ultimately also just brings more complications and the cycle repeats. Finding a way to deal with the pain of living is a challenge we all have to face. Just cant let it stop you from remembering the good times and soldering on. Hopefully he finds the strength to have a change of heart and if not then at least you have the chance to say goodbye with no regrets.

If he's been on Dialysis for 6 years he's gotta be at the top of the list now.

Op donating one of kidneys is also an option. There are no side effects either. You live a normal life. You don't necessarily have to donate your kidney, it's just another option.
