Nothing...Can someone tell me what this means?![]()
I agree with you about Erdogan. He has had to play different hats. He also has resistance facing him. At the same time the sanctions hurt Turkey a lot and he can't have a rotting economy on his hands. He doesn't want the AK party to lose seats and for his office to become weaker.
He's playing the long game to get Turkey into a better economic position. He should have done this a long time ago instead of pushing the EU thing.
Syria has sectarian issues to the war. But remember the Syrian army is mostly Sunni foot soldiers and there are Sunni pro govt militias fighting with the Shia militias. The Christians are staunchly with Assad.
The war is more so Sunnis from the country side who are poorer class against the power structure of the regime which is supported by the Sunni middle upper class of Aleppo and Damascus. And then you have Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups in there who are the best fighting forces.
Putin is the finesse master.... u have to be crazy to think he didn't have the propaganda game sorted before this went down. There's endless blame to be handed out for the spin. This event is going to weaken Erdogan even more, when he is already weak at the national level. A weaker Erdogan can be taken out easily and replaced by more anti-russians authorities. And Lord knows the anti-russian feeling is prevalent in Turkey.
Putin already have a weak Erdogan; a weaker Erdogan is not in Putin's interest.
Also, this assassination may put Putin in a weird situation back home : he already let the l-killing of the pilot go, now this. It will be hard for him to justify the reinforcement of his ties with Turkey when Turkey is humiliating Russia by killing its soldiers and officials.
