So tactically, what can the Cavs do to defeat the Warriors?

cavs have to limit turnovers and make shots, and actually give a damn defensively. I don't think they can do any of these things effectively all game to win

-Slow down the pace. There was a point in the 3rd where they panicked and every possession was just a random Cavs player bringing the ball up the court then immediately jacking a garbage shot up early into the clock. Actually, the entire second half they didn't run a single semblance of their offense. They panicked and tried to go shot for shot.

-Limit turnovers.

-Play the percentages in transition. They were giving Durant too many easy dunks to prevent transition 3s. Even the best shooters miss, a dunk is automatic.

-Periodically slide LeBron to the 4 and give Derrick Williams minutes at the 3 against KD. He's long and agile enough to guard him and can pick up fouls.

-Have their bench score more than 0 non garbage time points.

-LeBron actually giving effort on defense. What happened to the dude that made it his mission to punch Curry's layup every chance he got? Last night I watched him, within Curry's proximity several times, just stand there and let him get the easy layup.

It's just Game 1.

True, but that's one game out of 7

Teams dare him to shoot all the time and they live with his conversion rate

He's not a good shooter
Warriors move well without the ball. That's the catch. LBJ knows he can't chase KD and Curry all game and risk having to be taken out because of fatigue. The other players have size and will finish better at the basket than Thursday. The Cavs mainly have older spot shooters so Warriors won't expend more energy than the Cavs.

Force Draymond green to beat you on offense
He has become excellent at driving and kicking. He really splits point duties with Steph so idk if this is viable.:jbhmm:

This also opens Bron and Kryie up to being ran through a gauntlet of screens. :ohhh:

If I'm Mike Brown/Steve Kerr and Cleveland is sagging off of Dray I'm just hitting Bron with Zaza screen after Zaza screen(:sadcam:) and throwing lobs to KD becuase I know Dray can pass so well.:ehh:

Honestly now that I'm thinking about it...outside of turning up the intensity and trapping hard at halfcourt Miami-style I'm not sure how Cleveland can defend GS without completely gassing themselves by the 3rd.:francis:

Its scary how the tables have turned. Cleveland has become the jump shooting team this year so they can't afford to have tired legs or it royally fukks up their offense. On the other hand it looks like Golden State can get to the rim whenever and doesn't NEED to rely on the 3.:patrice:

But that's after 1 game tho. We'll see.:yeshrug:

Rebound the basketball. Dubs had 20 more shots. I thought that was a strength of the Cavs.... TT was a no-show game 1

Cavs won the rebound battle and shot and hit more free throws. Usually when that happens a team wins but they lost by 20.

Sounds like the Cavs are going to turn tonight's game into a wrestling match.

It'll be interesting to see if the refs let them get away with it like they did last year. :jbhmm:

Derrick Williams is the 2nd best athlete in the team. He needs to be playing this series with all the athletes the warriors have.

To me there is no defense that is going to stop curry, kd, and klay. I think you have to pick two to focus on and live with whatever the other does.

That nikka plays no defense tho. He got no burn on the heat cause he cant stay in front of his man. This aint a globe trotters exhibition its the finals

One other thing I think hasn't been mentioned is that the Cleveland needs to find a scheme in which Draymond is guarding 3 point shooters or away from the paint. As bat shyt insane as it sounds but they might need to go at him on the perimeter. They can't allow him to play center field and make plays like this.

He might not be, but in a game 7, for him to drop 30 under those circumstances was very important. The cavs know if it comes down to it Draymond is going to find some way to get buckets. This man has too many intangibles.
