1. Musicians have more ways to make a living because of the internet....social media, internet radio, digital music stores etc.

Everyone only thinks of the actual performing artists. But this free streaming market still fukks over people who aren't performing/touring, like songwriters and producers

People forget that streaming services like Spotify and Pandora put smaller artists on a more level playing field with major label acts..

"Well Pharrell only made such and such from Happy being streamed"..... but they fail to mention how much he was getting for appearances, performing and product endorsement because of that song

It's only the devil cause lazy ass musicians signed to major labels sell you that dream

Songwriters and producers have been getting fukked for decades, long before there was an internet to stream from.... it's part of the job.

countless songwriters and producers will never get their just due for the work they did on musicians albums.... it didn't start with free streaming and will never stop no matter what marketplace music exists in

Good. fukk him and fukk these greedy rich artists .

I love it how being a favor of this demise is being a "Cac" and wanting to bring the black man down . GTFOH. Who's really running Tidal? Exactly.

Jay-Z hasn't gave a damn about black people in years.

That's true, not denying that. But they're fukked over even more in a market where so little money is actually going toward the music itself

These songwriters/producers are also afforded the privilege ( usually) to work in whatever genre they want, with whatever artists they choose to.... for as long as they choose to stay in that profession.

Live Nation is running Tidal, it was their way to attempt to monopolize even more.....almost all those artists on that stage are either managed or under contract with Live Nation, Live Nation either owns or has booking rights at the venues those artists perform at..... and they just attempted to roll out a streaming service to rake in even more money from their artists.

I didn't know anything about this shyt except that Jay-Z was involved so I wanted it to fail, but then I looked into it and found out that it streams lossless audio and now I'm all for it. Compressed MP3s are killing the quality of music because now everyone is actually recording and mastering their music to sound good in shytty compressed 320 kbps MP3, which means they compress the shyt out of it. What that does is kill the dynamic range of the music, meaning the entire song is the same volume so that it sounds loud. This takes away from the dynamics of music, like when you have that big 808 kick, or a huge bassline drop, these are supposed to be louder than the rest of the song to give you that feeling of the bass drop. When they compress the shyt out of the music your hi-hat is the same volume as the 808 and bassline which is bullshyt

Even if you want to take the pretentious audiophile route.... Chances are, you don't have a data plan on your phone that will give you the ability to actually listen to music all day long.

and thats a major reason why it's gonna fail....nobody is gonna pay for a streaming service and then have to shell out hundreds of dollars on top of their cell phone bill just to use it

Ye stepped away from supporting Tidal the same way Jay stepped away from supporting Amil, Beans, Freeway and Sebastian Telfair.

What goes around comes around:sas2:

Digital Spy notices that West has not only changed the logo on his Twitter feed from the Tidal logo to the artwork on one of his old albums, but he’s also deleted any tweets that mentioned the service.

Exactly.

If Em was behind Tidal, there'd be a 20 page thread about how awesome it is.

If Em was behind Tidal, yeah it'd be more popular. But it wouldn't be any better of an idea and it'd eventually catch up with them.

I'm a Jay fan and his career and moves up to this point have been stellar. However, everything about Tidal from day 1 has been misguided and poorly conceived. You can't hang a higher price tag on a product and then tell people the reason is that the artists ain't getting paid enough lol.

Who thought of that? If you're gonna charge more, you gotta have more. Either more exclusives or better quality. This has neither.

If all these celebrities pulled their music off Spotify and Pandora and went exclusively with Tidal, it'd be one thing. But they're mugging on camera and kissing Jay's ass and won't put their money where their mouths are.

Now if it's true that he and Beyonce are releasing an album exclusively through Tidal, it could be the worst move yet.

Was thinking the same thing. That could piss off a lot of people who like their music but will never use Tidal and really hurt their brand, especially if the album isn't great.

They might fukk around and sink the whole ship doing that...
