unfortunately, Xbox leadership were clueless corporate suits, and wanted to continue to have Bungie make and pump out Halo games. They didn't want to and hence the split.

The only advantage this has to be fair, is BC with Series X games so essentially it's a PC that can play old Xbox games. That will probably make this shyt super expensive, maybe close to $2k?

That could work.
It needs to be powerful enough to justify the price point. Like you could glance at a game and tell it's a few cuts above a PS6 without having to deep dive. Take middle & upper middle class gamers that don't wanna go the PC route and give them a console that gives all the benefits of PC without the drawbacks. The gamer has to feel like his NextBox will be head & shoulders above the competition.
Actually kinda makes sense. Nintendo got the cartoon graphics and nostalgia lane. Sony is the general/average console gamer that wants the most popular AAA titles. Microsoft targets the person with a PC budget that is happy (prefers?) to game on a console. Feel like there's a market for it, no idea how big.

Why would they be morons? It's not a mainstream product it's for enthusiast. This is probably the smartest thing they've done for a home console. They're clearly going to sell these things at a profit and they'll be expensive but it's more or less a unique product nobody else offers. A PlayStation doesn't play stuff like Steam library games and nor does a Switch. They've already said this will be a very high end product. The smartest thing they can do is stop trying to out PlayStation PlayStation. Nintendo realized that with the Wii and started putting out unique products and now Microsoft will as well.
Nvidia isn't stupid for making the 5090 card. It has a market and people buy it.
why not get a PC and gamepass then? You could build it cheaper than whatever this XBox hardware they're dreaming of.

Why do people buy ROGs, Legions, Alienware, and other pre-builts? Everybody doesn't want to build their own PC. This thing has the backing of Microsoft and will guarantee a minimum standard of gaming for the duration of it's life without you having to open or tinker with it.
You calling it a flop but if it sells several million units and all at a profit is it? I wouldn't expect it to do crazy numbers it's just a minor side hustle.
