By raising the minimum wage, companies can't hire unskilled workers because they will be losing money. A company has to invest more money into training up an unskilled worker to become skilled, then add that to giving them a higher wage. No business would take that risk. By keeping it where it's at, it allows companies to hire them at a lower rate to eventually have them trained up

Imagine you opening a business and you hire an unskilled bookeeper/payroll clerk $20/hr. Your business would fail in a month
Nobody said $20 an hour, dawg. Minimum wage has been stagnant for too long.

dude is a clown

he finds the most mundane ways he can to possible be better than other (black) people

so of course hypothetically he couldn't stunt on anybody that would be working for a living wage because they would have everything they'd need.

Nobody said $20 an hour, dawg. Minimum wage has been stagnant for too long.

And American skilled labor has been stagnant for too long as well
Can't be stagnant in gaining skills and expect to be paid more

These CACs don't have your back, and they never will. They could care less if you fail. Either gain skills, or get lost in the shuffle

You have to understand, the majority are never going to start a business. They refuse to grasp operating expenses for small businesses. They are only thinking about mega-congloms. Not realizing that those companies will pay more, but have a smaller (leaner) workforce with higher pay. The employed will be expected to work even harder for their paper.

I personally agree with a higher minimum wage, but if I patronize a business who increases prices alongside those rising wages, there is a possibility that I may no longer be a customer if the services aren't upgraded with the additional fee. An example would be a sporting event. I used to be able to get a Knicks ticket for a reasonable price when I was in town, but they have priced me out completely. I don't want to pay those prices for non-excellent seats. Luckily for them, they have such a large pool of customers to choose from it doesn't hurt them. Small business doesn't have this luxury.

Don't think you get it
A business will always hire an experienced bookeeper over an unskilled one

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
This probably isn’t the best time to discuss this considering the current economic climate but....

Me and my boys were discussing this in our WhatsApp group. Whilst we agree the gap between the rich and poor is growing at an inexplicable rate (and even more so now), there are just people who aren’t going to ever aspire to be more.

And yes, I’m aware that there are structures put in place to keep the rich richer and the poor even poorer BUT, there are those of us who don’t allow the circumstances we’re born in to define us. Some people are just going to be bagging groceries until they die, flipping burgers until their knees give in.

Like I don’t get how people get to their 30s and still work in the same dead end job and make poor decisions. You’ve had years to find other skills, trades or avenues to make money. And yet you get mad at everyone else except yourself for your own poor decisions?

There’s a reason why we have home owners and life time renters.

This is true. Just go to the projects and you’ll see this.

I work with clients daily who are just blessed to have a job and there is no thought process of getting more income.

100% agree. Its crazy how this mentality is thought of as "selfish", when it's actually the opposite. They begging for higher minimum wage for THEMSELVES because they have enough skills to get paid that wage. While the unskilled labor are priced out of the market, and you see companies laying off more workers, and overworking the workers that they kept
