The fact that many so many of the posts for SGA and Ant are centered on “becoming” “starting”, “building”, etc….. further cements my opinion that the answer is Brunson.

If SGA or Ant win the title it’s viewed as the BEGINNING of their career path.

If Brunson wins that’s it. He is a legend for the rest of history. He wouldn’t need to do anything else, ever. That one title would get him into the hall of fame, statues built, movies made, etc…..

SGA or Ant would need to three peat in order for it to mean nearly as much as Brunson winning once.

If the Knicks, Thunder or Indy wins my theory of a point guard can't be your best player to win a title so by default I can only root for Ant just to be right

If Ant actually cared about being the face of the NBA, he'd benefit the most. For Shai, it was honestly more important for OKC to get to the West Finals this season than to win the whole thing.

It should impact Haliburton significantly more given the whole "Most Overrated" dialogue surrounding him. But all people will say is "Dame tore his Achilles, and Cleveland only put the best version of its team on the court one time during the semifinals."

So the answer is Brunson, then Haliburton. If nothing else, New Yorkers will ensure Brunson and that team is immortalized if they get it done.

I see it like this: If NY or Indy wins it all... their best player will NEVER have to win it again, and their spot in NBA history will be solidified. Basically what @The_Sheff said.

If Minnesota or OKC wins it all? That's just the start given expectations, surrounding teams, etc.

I want either Ant or Brunson to win but, I'm leaning towards Brunson since Ant is good enough to win in the future.

Back when Brunson first got traded from Dallas, cacs were talking hella greasy like he was terrible and that Luka was better off without him when I always felt that Luka was a ball hog/chucker. Years later and people finally see the truth. It would be worth it just to laugh at those dummies.
I don't remember exactly when the game was, but I know it was Dallas at Utah and I think Luka was out. Brunson had a great game and I said to myself "I'd like to see him with his own team"

I knew he'd be good, but not this good, since I usually have my reservations about small guards being #1 options.

Knicks put damn near perfect pieces around him this season, even though they basically only go 7 deep

Brunson is a god in NYC and for Knicks fans for the rest of his life with a chip. Certified forever

I also don't think Ant or Shai should necessarily be penalized for having more pressure to be great than Brunson and Hali,
but I get the rationale: aka Brunson or Hali winning benefits them more because both currently have zero expectations to be all-time greats to the same degree. i.e. If the Knicks win the title, Brunson will never have to win again, sure, but he was never gonna be in top 20 GOAT discussions anyway. He can stop right there.

In comparison, Giannis tecnically never has to win again either (he's immortalized) but because he's a multi-MVP winner, there's another level of glory he can achieve (past godhood in a city) that Hali and Brunson aren't good enough to. Same with Shaq after he won his first title with LAL. Same with Jokic. For certain players, 1 isn't good enough regardless of the city.

That's the trajectory that SGA, Luka, and possibly Ant are trending in, but they gotta win the first one first... which is a massive leap that is never guaranteed. Word to CP3, Harden, Westbrook, Embiid, etc.

SGA has the most to gain in terms of all time legacy. He would become the first guard since 96 Jordan to have best record, league MVP and Finals MVP in the same season. First Canadian player to lead a team to a title. First title in OKC. Would legitimize his claim to BITW and put him in all time guard conversations for the first time

Haliburton has the most to gain in terms of current perception. Voted most overrated, didn’t make the All-Star team, was 12th man on Team USA. Leading the Pacers to their first ever NBA title he’d be stamped as an elite player.

Ant has the most to gain in terms of starpower. Out of the young American players he’s generally considered the most flashy and exciting to watch, a large segment of ppl have been itching to crown him face of the league. With Tatum out for the foreseeable future, this win would pretty much stamp him as the face of American basketball

Brunson has the most to gain in terms of worship. Like others have said, to bring the first championship home for the Knicks in 50+ years he would be a literal god in the biggest market in the country. He could never make another Finals, another all star team, average 20 PPG again and he’ll be forever stamped as an icon for doing that

I really don’t think there’s a wrong answer here

My Pops Forever RIP
Sidebar, but someone else who would benefit MASSIVELY from a ring is Thibs
From a coaching standpoint it's easily Thibs and it's not even close.

From a management standpoint it's also very close

Pritchard/Buchanan - Indiana. Pritchard once upon a time was THAT guy. Remember he had the job in Portland and had a nice core but all the injuries destroyed Portland? Then he goes to Indiana and he's made real good trades to make them good. This is his 2nd chance to solidify himself.

Rose/Rosas- NY. Rosas is responsible for 3 of the core guys in Minny. Got fired for cheating on his wife with a co-worker. Immediately got scooped up by Rose who was a super agent turned exec. All of Rose's connections have pretty much paid off and win or lose they're the most respected management team in the city and if they win, Dolan wins and if Dolan wins, he's still an a$$hole, but he's an a$$hole with a championship, so they can erase pretty much all of his mistakes.

Connelly/Lloyd - MIN. Connelly built the Nuggets team, but left right before they won to get a bag. He's made 2 trades that everyone hated and if he somehow wins anyway, you can never question his moves. This is his chance to finally get validation for his team building (2 title teams in 3 seasons pretty much justifies his role and he'd get all his flowers). And they have A-Rod and Lore ready to take over ownership. The first thing they did when they got on board was hire Tim.

Presti- OKC. We know his story. Presti somehow got a 2nd chance at glory after money ended the first one. The Boy Genius title would be solidified forever with a ring and would set the blueprint for all these bad teams to try to do what he did as the standard rebuilding process.
