When has Jay been about anything other than the dollar?

Apple offered 20 mill. Was Jay z offering “ what could be”

I do think Drake having an exclusive deal with Tidal changes a lot of things

Since Drake is getting fukked for his publishing anyway it made more sense for him to take the bag from Apple even though TIDAL offers artists higher payouts.

Maybe Jay felt like bad because he saw it as though he was offering Drake an opportunity to come into the inner circle with Diddy and them and learn about business, etc

Doesn’t Drake still get those payouts cause his music is on Tidal?

Why did Drake have to sign with Jay z to learn about business from Jay? That sounds like a con

Its not only about signing to Tidal, Drake dissed Jay for mocking and boasting saying he was gonna be better than him. Jay was one of his mentors from the beginning. He disrespected Jay and had to put him in his place.

Drake never said he was going to be better than him

Also, I wouldn't classify what Jay said as a diss. He said what he said to who he said it to and that's that.

What Pusha T did was a diss. This was just addressing a situation that happened.

I think there's some subs where he said he was, I might have to look into it again and if I remember that shot he too at Jay on Free Smoke pretty much explains how he seen a lot of his mentors "die" for not paying attention to people dissing him.

While Jay did announce he teamed with superstar musicians Beyoncé, Madonna, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Daft Punk, Alicia Keys, Usher, Rihanna, and seven other acts to re-launch Tidal as an artist-owned platform, many in the public have assumed Jay is the majority owner of the company. Tidal executive Vania Schlogel recently spoke with the Wallstreet Journal‘s Lee Hawkins about the service and Jay’s official role.

“The artist owners felt very passionately about the mission upon which Tidal is founded, and so the artists are equal owners in the company,” said Schlogel. “Jay’s capital that has gone in is at very – I would term it below market interest rate to support the company.”

#1 Tidal was taking a stand to pay the artist more. Drake aligning with Apple while people who helped him become relevant i.e. Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Kanye, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and others were joining forces. It just proved that he is not a loyal person. A lot of powerful people decided to take a chance on Tidal and Drake really would've been the piece they needed to take it to the level they needed to be at to be a threat. I would be pissed too. I know you're a Drake stan, but just go back and watch that old Tidal video where all the celebs did the press conference. How many of them helped Drake position himself to be the artist that he is?

He always wants to be "down" and "black" when it's convenient and it's time to sell records, but when it comes to actually building and maintaining with his people he makes selfish decisions. You can try to counter with the "oh, but he writes for other people" but that is not the same as taking a stand and building your own platform. I think Jay took Drake under his wing and probably gave him a lot of game, more than we probably see. So it was like Drake spat in his face when he basically chose to side with Tim Cook and Jimmy Iovine who are not artists, but eat off the artists and really don't put in work.

It's one thing to stan someone and love their music but the boy has character flaws that keep getting exposed. Not saying Jay is perfect, but if one black man is coming to another and saying "hey, let's team up and win....we're the ones creating...we're the ones moving the culture...we can control our own shyt" and then you give your word that you'll join him....then side with the enemy...that's real snake behavior. You did it for 20Ms too and you had a mentor who could easily show you how to make a billy in his time. But nope. You took the short money and now nikkas know you got ghostwriters, Push got at you and you laid down and died and knocked up a porn star and hid your son.

a great way to realize someone is a bad business person is if they get mad at you for not doing business with them
Are you saying Jay is a bad business man? You dont think good businessmen all over the world get mad when people tell them "No" and they miss out on a great opportunity. Its business, you get pissed off then move on to the next venture.

I love how people act like TIDAL was the catalyst for this Jay/Drake situation while ignoring the fact that Drake dissed Jay-Z out of the clear blue sky in that Rolling Stone interview. Prior to that it was mostly seen as friendly competition.

this is how i see it

In the beginning Hov had him on BP3 early for off that and drake had him on light up.. i think jay was trying to build a relationship with him and he was okay with it until drake started sending lite jabs at hov like on im on one “I’m just feeling like the throne is for the taking, watch me take it.”

Not to mention the Hov vs Cash money “I’m like, ‘really? Half a billi n*gga, really?’ You got baby money / Keep it real with n*ggas, n*ggas ain’t got my lady’s money.”
Drake dissed hov for liking art “Picasso Baby"
Drake:“I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella then I turned into Jay,”
Hov: “Real life I’m like Hov, real life I’m life goals / In real life they’re like me? In real life I’m like, ‘No.’

so obviously lyrically its been the back and forth.

But as to signing with tidal i agree with you @CrimsonTider , for jay to think he will sign with him out of "love" after they have this fake rap back ad forth and drake did what was good for HIS career. Hov was sour and continue to diss him the only way he can and is working.

Drake supposedly gave his word that he was gonna become one of the minority’s owners like the other artists, but Apple offered him that deal at the last minute, and basically went back on his word, and said fukk what was already agreed upon.

That coupled with dissing Jay in a magazine, and on a couple songs would be my guess as to why Hov had to put him in his place.
