Really tho. America doesn't give a fukk about culture or art...unless there's money to be made from it.

That's why endless arts programs are being cut left and right in schools across the country.

We don't even have creativity in cartoons anymore. They tryna kill off imaginations and innovations from kids before they can develop. Mental enslavement, yall. :to:

That mural symbolized the spirit of NYC. With that gone, its only a matter of time before corporate heads take over everything.

No hip hop entrepreneur could have bought it?

They too busy thinking about themselves. Hip Hop needs to understand the concept of legal ownership. I bet you that historic sights of Country Music in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee would be taken away so easily.

Another L for NY with the majority of the population renting and not owning anything.

Ownership is KEY. Many posters in here STILL don't get this point.
True...It sad and I hate to see all that hard work and beauty destroyed, but this is America, Jack....

It reminds me of the people that get pissed when housing projects are destroyed talking about how their moms and grandmoms used to live there and its always been their home...Naw breh...That aint home and that aint yours..You and all the memories you built around it were temporary...

I predict that New York will look like Salt Lake City, Utah demographically and aesthetically in 30 years..The Southern migration has already been in effect for over 2 decades now...

Well that's the knee jerk reaction
I lived in queens the majority of my life
The best view of the building is from the train in my avy
It's a staple of queens

shyt is business, not personal
I don't know what they offered the owner but I'm sure it was a lot

I, like most people here would've preferred if they demolished the building with the art still on it and let us know ahead of time
Would'nt have felt like such a blow
Of course I would've liked them to keep it up
And I appreciate them letting us do it in the first place

Damn this shyt is a major L for graf culture. This just shows that most of these big time rappers nowadays just dont care about the culture anymore. These rappers keep talking about their paper but they cant join forces to buy the property. None of em even used their influence to bring more light to the story, such a fukkin shame. What the fukk happend to the culture man...

they are c*nts because why the fukk paint over it and then demolish it? seems like a big fukk you to all the artists IMO it would have cost money to get it painted, which was completely unnecessary
